Now how many of you really know how to cook? Come on be honest.... :wink3:
Ok, I love pumpkin pie and I only get to have it at the holidays. I had it at Thanksgiving and now I have another whole pie. I cannot eat the whole thing and was wondering if you can freeze pumpkin pie? I know some things are freezable and others aren't. What do you think? Will it taste bad after it is thawed?
Please advise...thanks!! :grin5:

Hubby freezes his sweet potato pie so i see no reason why pumpkin can't be frozen. In fact I picked up Mrs. Smiths Frozen Pumpkin Pie for my elderly neighbor before the holiday! So you must be able to.:)

I am so not the cook in our family, but it seems to me that the pie could be fozen. You know pie crust can be frozen, as can filling, so I'd think that both together would be fine. But I'm kind of a dumbass when it comes to baking, so the chemistry could be totally wrong as far as I know. Alton Brown, where are you!?

You can freeze the pie. Make sure you wrap it really good in cellophane ( plastic wrap) and then cover it with foil. My granny used to make pies ahead of time, especially if she had fresh fruit. That way we could have fresh cherry or blueberry pie in the winter.

should be fine, just wrap it well and i'd say try to eat it within a month or 2. there are websites with the freezer life of every food,so maybe try that.

Pumpkin pie will freeze well. The only thing that might happen is the crust may be a little soggy. Wrap well and don't keep it too long and it should be fine.

definitely freezable- although I wouldn't freeze it for more than 2 months- because the tastes will be lost. However I love 'freezer' cooking, and you can mix a batch of pumpkin pie 'mix' and freeze it for up to 6 months then defrost, put it in the shell and cook it and it is still just as yummy as if you made it that day...
