I don't want to assume that our "online names" are part of or are our first names....

So, sound in... first name/nickname/location in NY... I'll go first...

Cj/Pricelessheart - Harriman, NY

then we'll bump up the list so we all know who we all are. We have a nickname on the floor...

"NYMiddies Our Lucky Sweepers" (Keeping the OLS - our FAVORITE sweeps site initials in our name...) anyone else go an idea....

:smile9: Hi from Florida :D No, not the warm sunny one, the one that got snow this morning here in Orange County NY. Although, having just returned from the OS Orlando get-together, I would totally rather be in the warm sunny FL right now LOL For those who don;t know where it is, it's sort of between Middletown and Monroe next to Warwick and Chester, right in the black dirt region where they grow all the onions - ya gotta smell it in August

Terri - Florida, NY

Glad to know there are more of NY OC people here.

Hi Terri in Florida.. (not the sunny warm one!)

Wow you 've been around these OLS parts for awhile... how long have you been sweeping? Do you belong to any other "clubs"?

Yes, it's great to know there are other Orange County folks as well as all those between us and the Finger Lakes /Albany/Syracuse etc.

All I ever read about anywhere is those on the Island, the City, Westchester- good to meet and greet others closer to our neck of the woods!

I work on 17M in Monroe - just before Chester..... I live in Harriman - a hop skip and jump from the commons - all the kids in Monroe Woodbury Central School District.

Nice to mee ya!

What oh lord.. having a brain misfiring this morning.... what did you go do in Florida - a convention? (there's the word I was looking for!! *laughing* ugh!)

very much so but there was a bad accident accident there today, thegentlemen that works for me is a volunteer in the howells f.d he had his radio on and a call came through (not for his dept) that a woman got stuck in a conveyor belt and they had to call out a rescue team

Ziggywag
December 2nd, 2003, 1:36pm
OMG thats horrible. I hope she survived. There do seem to be quite a few farming accidents and because usually it is so far out in the fileds, it takes a while before help arrives. That's one area where cell phones are really a necessity.

HASAMA
December 2nd, 2003, 1:41pm
i know but i got very squeamish when i hear it because the machine had no safety feature on it where it would shut automatically and they had to get rescue there , the only saving grace is that it is a big open area there so if they hve to stat flight her to westchester medical that can be done quickly

hi again i stocked up on the most important thing i need dog food so i am set and ready for the snow, as long as the guy that plows my driveway and shovels my steps is i have 3 front porches and can not get out unless they are cleared, as for my driveway it iskind of long and he needs to clear it for me to get my car out in an emergency!!! other than that i am around 4 months behind on my work for the business so i have plenty to do!!!!

Pricelessheart
December 5th, 2003, 11:21am
4 months behind on work! Yikes!!

I have to be at work until 500pm tonight. Then 9 to 4 tomorrow - however I don't think that is going to happen. Who is going to go to their storage unit during a norester to get stuff out?????? *laughing*
At least I will have my kids with me *laughing* they can help shovel things on the property!!

Okay - trying to find "snow friendly" "season greetings" "white christmas" type sweeps... will post here.. would be great to find locals - but uhhhhh don't think so can't find a thing so far.

Welp!

yes it is the end of the year so i need to deplete inventory, i have 75,000 items left to get up and running and out of here in 3 weeks i know i will not get everything done however, the more i can do the better as it makes the accounting aspect a lot easier with me not being well, my time has been cut down greatly so while i used to be able to work for a long stint at once now i work a few hours take a break work some more and so on. the only saving grace is i have a gentleman that helps me out 2 hours a day 5 days a week, he helps with the packaging and the postal runs.

Hi glad to see you made it through the snow, they dug me out last night, i have a wonderful guy that does it and is very cheap. i have a rather long driveway which he does, he hand digs by my garage door so i can get my car out, and i have 3 front porches on my house which he also does and charges just 40.00 for everything.

UGH we got about 18 inches of the white stuff!!!! I know about driveways too. I live in a corner house and my driveway goes in on one street around the back of the house and out the other street plus there is the part that leads to the garage and that is 2 cars wide by at least 3 cars deep and I don't have a snowplow guy LOL. DH said he shoveled some out but you had to see the maneuvering I had to do to get out last winter, talk about your own personnal obstacle course :D Lets hope he learned to shovel straight paths this year. So much for getting the Christmas lights up this weekend too. I have got to learn to do like the locals do and get them up around Halloween.

Well, my kids are both in SS Seward. One in the middle school and one in the HS. SS Seward goes from 6th through 12th grade. Hey this is Florida after all :D we don't have enough kids for separate schools.

I like the idea of a get-together too mamomom and we probably have all crossed paths at the Galleria, Woodbury Commons, Walmart or someplace at some time and didn't even know it. Hey I went to the Florida get-together - the warm Florida that is, Orlando - so I'm up for anything...any suggestions anyone?

I'm only up here a little over 3 years, from Long Island before this. The Goshen diner was the first place I ever ate up here, it was a week before we moved and we came up to get a final look at the house before closing and we came across the diner on the way back to LI and decided to eat before making the 2 1/2 hour drive home. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't know where it is either LOL :)

ah, when i bought this house i was alone, when i moved in i was alone, and i am still alone so if i am out, and something looks interesting then i stop there, unfortunately with my hours that i work, i am lucky to get out and around 10 hours a week :-) one of the disadvantages of working from home. i have gone to some great places, and i think i know where you are talking about as when i head to the vet in monroe i believe it is on the right hand side ???? i have just always had the "kids" with me so never stopped, with them i jsut do drive throughs

Hi Y'all

Maybe we could meet up after the holidays - any diner - any place in the mid area would be good for me. Lunch or breakfast - or on a Sunday?????

I know things get nuts with the kids on holiday break from the 22nd - through the 1st of the year.

Now, snow is washing away, along with the roads in the area; more water than I've seen in a long time - trying to salvage things out of the basement before it fills up with too much more water! That's what we get for living along a creek bed! *laughing*

I saw in Sundays paper - Adams Farms grocery (?) check your times herald record - drawings and giveaways at their floral department.

I'll try and find the Sunday paper and pull it out again!

Time for me to get some tea - have lost my voice - after the weekend and freezing wet feet for 3 days .... got myself a doosy of a cold +!

Ziggywag
December 12th, 2003, 2:44am
Oh feel better pricelessheart. I can't believe the snow disappeared in one day. I never even checked my basement, its probably all down there LOL Thats just what I need after having a power outage wednesday night for 4 hours. It was only my street as far as I can tell, the rest of Florida was all lit up. Well, I am game for whatever you all decide on, I'm easy but yeah the next week will be busy and then the kids are out of school. I am probably going to be at the Galleria a lot the next week so if anyone is heading over there, maybe we could do lunch in between shopping. :) I am never going to get my shopping done anyway, I haven't even started yet.

Please accept my apologies for not having been online. I've been sick and on Christmas Eve we found out why.... so... for those of you who say a prayer every now and again or more often than that... I could certainly use them! Please!
The road is gonna get bumpy over the next couple of days/weeks/months... Hmmm they are telling me I may have breast cancer - everything is on fast forward a ton of doctors, surgeons and appointments all at break neck speed. Thankful for the holidays, made everything slow down - which is a good thing and a bad thing in many ways.

So, if you don't seem me on a daily basis - I'm thinking of ya all. Looking on Ebay for a laptop - nothing fancy but something that will will be more condusive to bed rest and recoop time plus something that can travel with me. *laughing* I went to the doctors thinking one thing and ended up with a whole different thing! Ugh!

Also, I hope you all signed up for the Money Tree - I am so thankful for Brent and all the Master Sweepers here - I've not found a friendly place on the net for this hobby we love so much....
That's why we are the .... what was the nickname we came up with!?! *laughing* something useing the OLS along with NY ... *giggles* brain on overload lately I can't finish a sentence! *giggles*

Anyways, gonna try to be here as often as I can - been encouraged to keep up with my hobby's the things that bring me a greater sense of peace and relaxation - that would definitely be sweeping.. so easy to get lost in it.
May have to do more mail in - then online - we'll see. But know I'm watching... and still would love to meet up with everyone!!!

In the meantime, I'l continue to scour the papers and the mags and local areas for our local sweeps... If you all are comfortable and don't mind emailing me directly that would be great... *smiles* and an encouragement!

Okay - someone tell me some good news! Whose won here lately? What have you won? What is your fantasy(but always hopeful) win for 2004? What do you want or need the most?
Only win was a wallet - goldfish - for my son! Finally!! *laughing*
Haven't rec'd the DVD or the Poster from Hulk yet...
Did receive several comic books - HUH? can't find record of what or where....

That way we all can keep our eyes and ears open for those types of sweeps especially if they are locals!! *smiles*

Write on - *smiles* Seeing more posts I think maybe something in Sullivan or one county up might be the "middle" point for all of us midstate - upstate NY'ers to meet.
Throw out some ideas and let's see what we can do for the Spring... fair enough?

(((((((((((((((((((sweeping hugs))))))))))))))))))))))0 *smiles*

Well it would seem for the immediate close folks - Goshen Diner is the Place - and Sunday the time - hmmmm let's get kids back to school and see what we can do from there.

I think in all fairness for those not immediately close - further up would be good.

Also, thinking - has anyone been to Alexandria Bay? (I love that place - wouldn't that be amazing for a day or two - get together - more of the upstaters could make it too!!!) Just a thought.

Of course, I am thinking in the positive as to my own personal schedule can't commit to anything at the moment.... But it is a thought!! *smiles*

I live smack dab in the middle between Rochester and Syracuse, but I work in Rochester.

I have only lived here for three years after spending the last 22 in AZ and the 10 before that outside Chicago.

Well......

I see that many have popped their head in to say hello this past month! Glad to see each and every one of ya! *smiles*

Well what a nice group we've got going on here. It would seem we have one small group from "uperstate" of NY. and a small group mid-lower state NY. So I think there are 2 lunches or something to be planned and had. Waddya think?

How is everyone's 2004 going? Great I hope. Everyone healthy, happy and sweeping I do hope! :gift:

Let's see we have the Goshen Diner for the lower-middie NY'ers..... Who is further further upstate that can take the bull by the horns and pick a place for that particular group to meet for lunch? Each group can take some pictures and we can share them - a virtual midstate to upstate OLS group!?! Do ya think? *smiles*

Okay - y'all sound in - let me know - and let's see what ball we can get rolling.
In the meantime sound off on your 2004 wins - and what you hope to win.

As for NY sweeps - NEXTEL/NY Rangers win for hubby... got the call on Friday - although we are now waiting to find out if it's 1st or 2nd place win. Ugh! But WHOOOOHOOOOO!!!! :cheer7:
Boys got a surprise win from October WBKids11 - 1st prize -a game boy advance game
And all of that arrived and happened last week. Hmmmmm could be a wonderful start to the New Year! Have to admit being way behind on my online sweeps - only have had time for snailmail - easy to do when in and out of the docs. ya know!

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) to all

Sound In!!!! :toot:
