OK Guys. The question that has been asked for decades. It's about time there was a graph charting popluarity (OK, I'm sure there's one out there on the web somewhere, just give me this will you? :soapbox: )

Mary Ann or Ginger?

Women can play along too.

Professor, Skipper or Gilligan?

Okay, I'll play along - I'd have to go with the Professor! He was good with his hands, :wink3: But dang it, he could make a radio out of a coconut, but couldn't fix a hole in the boat, lol.

I went with Professor, and so did a lot of people, much to my surprise. He was the only smart one, and the only vaguely good looking guy on the island.

I woulda gone for Gilligan, but I was discouraged by his nickname, "LITTLE Buddy."
So Prof. it is.

The two actors who played Professor and Mary Ann (Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells) are long-time friends. If you recall, the original theme song didn't include them, it had "and the rest, are here on Gilligan's Isle."

When they call each other up, they say "hi, and the rest." Russell and Dawn both know they're afterthought, the rest.

I wonder why Thurston and Luvee Howell weren't included in the poll.

Sorry but Jonas Gumby (skipper) and Gilligan have not appeal. But the professor...good looking with brains.

Had to go with the professor because there was not a "none of the above" catagory.

Definitely Mary Ann. Ginger has probably been rode more than a New York taxi cab. Plus Mary Ann can cook, doesn't seem stuck up and is capable of doing things for herself if need be. :cheer7:

I go with the profeessor although I never thought he was running on all cylinders. I often wondered what he was a professor of. He never seemed to be able to figure out that they worked the way they should or when they should. I gave him an A+ for effort though because he kept me laughing.

I think I always had a bit of a crush on the Professor, even though I was a very young girl when watching that show. Even grew up to marry someone who intended to be a professor, though as things stand 12 years later, he decided not to become a professor and can't come close to making a radio out of a coconut! Darn! ;) (It would not surprise me at all, however, if my 5-year-old son was making radios out of coconuts within a few years, or at least making robots out of them!)

Had to go with Ginger - any woman that can wear sequins and strappy, high heeled sandals in the sand deserves my vote!!

I was always a big Ginger fan!

I do have a funny story though. Ten years ago I was living in New York, and went to Joe Allen's for dinner. They have great posters on the walls of Joe Allen of flop Broadway musicals, and I was having a discussion with a friend about who starred in La Strada (it was Bernadette Peters), and I walked over to the poster to verify (there was a drink at stake). Well, Tina Louise was sitting at the table underneath the poster. She saw me walking toward her, and apparently thought I was a deranged fan or something, because when I got close, she lit out at me and screamed "I don't sign autographs while I'm having dinner!"

She was really embarassed when I told her I just wanted to see the poster she was sitting in front of.

Hmmmm...hard choice. When I was a little girl I always had to be the Professor when we played GI, since I was the only one of my playmates with more than 2 brain cells, but my favorite was that cute little Maryanne. I'd just love to pinch those, um, cheeks... :smile9:

Oops--I voted for Mary Ann. My sis had a huge crush on the Professor and I thought all the rest of the cast were dweebs. Ginger was too full of herself and wore too much makeup(where did it all come from--did she have auto-ship?)

I always thought Mary Ann was hotter than Ginger. I guess because she looks more wholesome or something. As for the males? The Professor! No doubt. Even though the Skipper was kinda hot in a big teddy bear kind of way.

Had to go with the Professor. I could probably talk with him for hours since we both seem to be the technical type. We'd be going back & forth sharing our insights as to what to fix, how to fix it & what to use to fix it. :joker: LOL!!!!! The guys' cute too. ;)
