can you post the sweep listing here or the rules, please?
That would be the first place to look to see if there is a disclaimer in there regarding cash susbstitutions.

Who was the winner...you or the child?

To answer your question, sure, you can ask, but be prepared for a negative answer, just in case. Most sponsors, from what I have read and learned, will not go for the cash alternative, sometimes the "prize" is donated in exchange for the advertising revenue gained by sponsoring the sweep.

Here is what the rules say:

"The potential Grand Prize winner (parent/legal guardian if winner is a minor in his/her state of residence) will be required to sign and return to ePrize, within ten (10) days of the date notice is sent, an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity Release (except where prohibited) in order to claim his/her prize if applicable."

So, if your step-daughter is the one that won, her parent/legal guardian is the one who must accept her prize on her behalf.

"No cash equivalent and all prizes are non-transferable and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize should become unavailable for any reason."

So again, sure, you can ask, but there is also this in the rules:

"In the event that a potential winner of a Grand, First or Second Prize is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner by random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries. There will be three (3) alternate drawings after which the prize will remain unawarded."

This leads me to believe that they will most likely say "no" and draw another winner who can accept the prize as it was offered. I could very well be wrong, but just throwing the info out for you to be prepared.

THANKS FOR THE HELP EVERYONE....HOPEFULLY BY SOME MIRACLE THEY WILL ACCEPT AND GIVE ME THE CASH INSTEAS. I WAS THE WINNER OF THE PRIZE BUT DID NOT EVEN PAY ATTENTION TO THE GRAND PRIZE THING WHEN I WAS PLAYING CAUSE IT WAS AN INSTANT WIN. I DID NOT EVEN KNOW IT WAS A PRIZE FOR Z CHILD. I NEED TO PAY BETTER ATTENTION NEXT TIME.IF THEY DON'T GIVE ME THE CASH THEY WILL HAVET TO AWARD A DIFF WINNER CAUSE I CANNOT PAY THOSE TAXES ON A 5.000 DOLLAR PRIZE. DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE RANGE OF HOW MUCH THE TAXES WOULD BE ON THAT..
THANKS, TONYA
