When I turned on my computer tonight, it told me there's an update to Adobe Flash Player. I checked the info. they posted on it but I wasn't sure if it's really needed or not. FF or anyone...is this update as "critical" as they suggest? Do I install or not? Thanks. :type:

It's close to a month old.
If yours is working then don't bother.
Unless you really need to.:type:

The updates sometimes contain security fixes for known vulnerabilities so if I was you I would update.

From the release notes:

"Setting data on the system clipboard using System.setClipboard() now requires user
interaction. This security enhancement helps mitigate potential clipboard attacks, and
developers may need to update existing content. For more information, read the Flash
Player 10 Security Changes article on Adobe.com."

This current fix apparently helps prevent somebody from accessing your clipboard. There is (or used to be) a website that posted all of the private and personal information it gathered from unsuspecting surfers.

last week my adobe flash wanted to update for a security fix ... after updating youtube and other sites would not run flash content ... I uninstalled, reinstalled ... same result. I ended up restoring my computer to before I installed the security update and all works fine. I haven't been prompted to install the security update since then as of yet.

if you use facebook or myspace, I'd go right to the website if you think you need to update your flash player. There was a virus being circulated by and adobe flash update prompt - and it is a bogus update

I also updated my flash player and guess what, it will play fine on the adobe web site but won't play many other sites. I go to contest sites such as skoalbrotherhood.com and merrell and it says i need to download the flash player. Arrrhhhhhgggggg.
