Interesting. I think its incredibly reassuring for kids who depend on loans to be in schools. I know I've been terrified of what would happen if more companies dropped out of the student loan business. I had to switch lenders this year because THE stopped lending for a large span of time. I've been with them since 2000. I can't imagine what I'd do if all of a sudden I couldn't get my loans to finish medschool. I'd be left with hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt, years of lost earnings and no degree to show for it.

I think loans will be more affordable if they cut out the middleman. I bet the lobbyista are on this one as we speak.
