Aw, this is a shame. I grew up with and love their cookies.
Employees were all fired today...with no prior notice.
Citing rising food and fuel costs, two subsidiaries of Archway & Mother's Cookie Company Inc. have filed for bankruptcy, effectively shutting down the firm's U.S. operations.

The iced lemon were the bomb.
I hope they can pull out of this....

Oh Good Lord! I loved the Archway holiday cookies! I just discovered the awesome lemon iced cookies (lemonade) by Mothers.

I only bought their cookies for extra special treats, they were always on the pricey side and hardly on sale, let alone rarely saw a coupon for either. They rank right up there with Pepperidge Farms' cookies, really good but on the pricey side, IMO.

They may have benefited from having a sweep promo every so often, luring new customers.

There's a Mother's Cookies plant here in Louisville. They make the Girl Scout Cookies and our listed on the box as Little Brownie Bakers. The article only mentioned the two plants, but replies on the webpage had people from California saying that their jobs were gone also. Wonder if the plant here shuts down, who'll make the GS cookies.

This is sad. I really like their cookies. Maybe they can still pull it together somehow.

Franz...really? I hope their cookies are better than their bread...which we refer to as 'air bread'.

Archway cookies used to be here in my town, but it was bought out and changed to another name.

I didn't realize they were such a wellknown brand.

I remember having Archway cookies in our house when I was growing up in California...in the 60s.

You're right...we've only tried their regular white and wheat. And that was years ago when we first landed here from California. The white and wheat were very disappointing, so we haven't touched Franz since then. It's been 15 years, so we'll have to give Franz another try.

P.S. I'm still bummed out that Van de Kamp's bakeries went out of business a couple of decades ago. Remember them? They had the best everything.

This is so sad.

We've had so many businesses die here in Reno and yet they are building new shopping malls too....doesn't seem wise to me.

They also just opened a Scheel's here last week. Last thing this area needs is the "World's largest sporting goods store" when the casinos are starting to lay off and close down all together.

DH and I are seriously discussing moving away next year before this town dies completely.

I knew times were bad here when the one and only Krispy Kreme closed.

I wish the government would bail them out, instead of the ###@@@$$ insurance companies.

Get some really smart people that know what they are doing to be so darn successful to run this bail out deal.

The same people that messed it up in the first place are still doing the same thing.

Oh, why don't they get it?
