Box is going out tomorrow Morning. I am opening another thread to post when you receive the box
Mystery Swap Box #2 - CLOSED!
Post here:
http://forums.online-sweepstakes.com/showthread.php?p=7792115#post7792115
Sign ups will be closed at 10 players. I already have 8 from Box #1 and I will list them below. I will keep this open until Wednesday 9/24 at 12 PM to see if we can get 1 more player. Otherwise we are set.
Now for the boring part:
Before getting involved, understand that if you participate you will be expected to contribute gifts as well as receive gifts of the same value!
This is a game for ONLY the best of the best members. We have had some bad trading in these boxes and I don't want that to happen here. Do not replace items with your used Tupperware or half used body lotion (yes both of those have happened). If you are in doubt about the value, check Amazon.com, or EBay to see what the going rate is.
You must have over 500 posts (unless you have already played in one of the swap boxes or hosted a MOC and followed through with the prize)
You can not appear on any bad traders list
All players must agree to comply with "The Spirit of the Box." (See below)
THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART AND YOU MUST READ AND AGREE TO ABIDE BY THESE PRINCIPLES. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN YOU BEING REPORTED AS A BAD TRADER.
The Spirit of the box is to include items in the box that someone in the group may want or be able to use. The box is not simply a dumping ground for broken or useless junk. The box will start off with a list of ARV for the items in the box. You must replace an item you take out of the box with an item equal or higher ARV than the item you took out. This should be a 1 for 1 exchange unless you are using a GC to make up the difference. You must include a realistic ARV of your item in the Journal. This should prevent someone taking a $20 item and giving a $2.00 item in its place. You want the person after you to be equally happy right? You MUST post what you took and who it was from was from in this thread.
NOT POSTING YOUR ITEMS IN THE JOURNAL WILL RESULT IN DISQUALFYING YOU FROM ADDITIONAL ROUNDS AS WELL AS BEING REPORTED TO ALL OTHER MEMBERS. TAKE YOUR TIME, IT IS A VERY SIMPLE THING TO DO, AND IT IS A REQUIREMENT OF THE GAME.
The box must be shipped with delivery confirmation. You can use the USPS Priority Box, your own box, UPS, FedEx – whatever you choose, YOU MUST GET DELIVERY CONFIRMATION. The USPS Flat Rate box has worked the best in the past, but it has shrunk in size lately.
Here's how it will work:
I've put together a box of 10 prizes and at least 10 Gimmees (Average values vary)
Once we have enough players I will randomize the order in which you will have your turn in the game. (daskds will always be the first and last player of the round)
daskds mails the box to player #2 who can remove up to 5 items from the box. You must remove at least 1 item. Do not remove more than 5 of the prizes.
For every item you remove from the box, you must replace it with another item of your choosing, but it MUST have a value comparable to the prize you removed from the box and be a 1 for 1 trade unless you are using a GC to make up the difference. If you take a $20 item and put back in a $10 movie you can make up the difference with a GC for $10. You must replace all prizes you take. You can not take 1 $20 item and replace it with 5 $4 items. Doesn’t work that way.
If you take something that is put in as a ‘package’ deal – YOU MUST TAKE EVERYTHING!!
NO BREAKING UP SETS!
Once you've replaced your prize with your gift you mail the box to the next person on the list.
You may only hold the box for a total of 4 days. Others are waiting to get their turns at the box. We have had some problems with this in the past and some players have not been allowed back in due to this one rule not being followed. If you are going to be away from home during this swap, let the OP know up front and they will make sure the box does not come to you during those dates.
There will also be a journal included in the box. When you claim an item- mark it claimed from the journal. When you add an item, add its description to the journal on the page reserved for you. (The journal will be self explanatory when you see it) DO NOT KEEP THE JOURNAL! It gets mailed every time with the box to the next person. PM me if you have ANY QUESTIONS!
Some FAQ's I'm sure someone will ask:
What if I don't like anything in the box? - Sorry, you must remove and replace at least 1 item or be barred from future rounds and reported as a BAD TRADER.
Should I post here what I placed in the box? - NO! Keep the contents of the box a secret at all times.
Should I post what I removed from the box? - Absolutely! You MUST share with everyone what you received and who placed it in the box. This is a requirement of the swap.
Who pays to ship the box? - You do. When it's your turn to mail it off, you pay for all shipping charges the same way the person who mailed it to you did. With this in mind, be considerate of what you put in. A $5 item that weighs 3 pounds may cost more in postage than it is worth. Think about it before you add heavy items.
What if the box gets worn out or can't be mailed again? - Replace the box and post on here that you did. The Post Office gives the Priority boxes away.
Can I include a "Mystery item" that's wrapped or in an envelope? - Yes! But make sure it is marked as such. This has been a great source of fun in the previous boxes!
I received a Mystery Item in the box, should I open it? - If you do, you automatically keep it. It's one of your items that must be replaced. If you don't want to gamble on what's in the sealed item, DONT OPEN IT.
Can I add an 11th, 12th, 13th item to the box? Yes. If you want to add extra items, feel free. But remember, they will be treated as "Gimmees." If you want to take a Gimmee, go ahead. Please remember there are people after you that would like some as well. You do not have to replace gimmees, but most people put something back in. I save some of my free samples I get in the mail to use here. Also remember the weight of the box when adding items.
Can a Gimmee be used as my 1 "Must take" item? - No. you will still need to take another item and replace that one. The good news is you just got 2 prizes for the price of 1!
Can I take all the Gimmees and not put any back in? Please do not do that. :nono: Why would you want to? How much fun would that be for the person who receives the box after you? Let the box leave you the way you would want to receive it.
So who gets the items in the box when the game is over? - daskds (I put the original 10 items in the box)
So what happens if I just keep the box and don't mail it to the next guy? I get all the prizes right? - Sure, you can be a jerk and run off with the box. The only person you'll really be hurting is daskds since everyone else gets something before they add anything. But, here's the draw back. Your name will be reported to the powers that be here at OLS and listed as a "Bad trader" meaning you'll never be able to participate in another OLS game again. Congrats! You've just "won" (Read that stolen) your last prize! And your name will show in the thread as the last person with the box. It will not be a secret.
That's it! It really is a simple concept, but I wanted everything spelled out in detail so everyone knows what they are signing up for.
Don’ts:
No food product that can spoil.
No food product that is not securely wrapped in a ZIPLOCK plastic bag. It must be a bag that seals.
Anything that may spill or leak or melt must also be in ZIPLOCK plastic bag. It must be a bag that seals.
No coupons or codes for something that will expire in LESS than 6 months from the day you put it in the box UNLESS IT IS A GIMMEE! In my last box, I receive two GCs that expired the day I received them! These items were used as trades for value. If the P.O had delayed my package by even 1 day I would have lost over $20 in the value of my items.
Ready? Let's Play! - Again!
