View Full Version : Convention Goers: One quick question, please?

Would someone be willing to tell the rest of us if any of the speakers specifically addressed the perennial sweepers' rumor of "blacklists"? Did anyone deny or confirm?

Did they say anything about whether or not sponsors/JAs ever screen entrants based on criteria not in the rules? Such as age, gender, geography, won lots of prizes previously, entering via sweeps site (OLS), newsletter acceptance, etc., etc., etc.?

I know the general feeling is that sponsors and JAs don't care who wins and are not inclined to risk legal troubles by not being objective in drawings.

But did anyone specifically say this does not happen?

Thanks so much if you can put this issue to rest. Sweeping minds want to know! :gvibes:

I have a really bad back and can't sit for more then 20 minutes at a time (give or take) so I missed a lot of the speeches.

However, I know that every year Jeff puts out a fantastic convention video and you can see all of the speakers for yourself. That's what I am planning to do and I can't wait to get it.

Brent just posted a thread here in the convention forum. I highly recommend it!

Thanks, lion. What a great idea.

The convention speaker said emphatically that the "blacklist" was NOT true. He said judging agencies want to show the sponsors that they were able to sufficiently market their promotions, and that the more entries, the better. He said he was perplexed as to how rumors of a "blacklist" got started! :grin5:
