Well the other day i had a problem with our little girl dachshund/chihuahua mix, Shy-Anne. While i was asleep and DH was on the computer she got up and peed on the couch! She has never done this before! I figured she might have done it because she couldnt go outside (Fay was making her way thru) I didnt see her do it so i didnt punish her or anything like that.
Well last night she did it again even though she had been out all day and again right before i went to bed. I cant figure out what her deal is. She's 5 years old so its not like shes a puppy.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i could do?

Sounds like she could have a urinary tract and/or bladder infection. A trip to the vet might be in order, if just to assure you that she's healthy and if not, to get her started on antibiotic therapy.

Funny true story-- Mrs Strangelove has been here for two six week stays since we got married in February. When she's here Dogofstrangelove is strictly forbidden from entering the bedroom. One morning during the second visit she went outside to talk with me before I left for work. While she was outside Dogofstrangelove took the opportunity to sneak in and hopped into the bed. He dozed off and when she came back inside it must have startled him because he peed a little and jumped off the bed. My wife was confused and thought he might have done it on purpose. Maybe your dog was overcome with a bit of anxiety, too.

well if she couldn't go out because of FAY of course she is going to go indoors. If that IS the reason she did it, nothing really you can do. If she has to go and can't go outside she has to go, somewhere.
If that isn't the reason the other poster is correct in that it could be a uti.

The first one could have been because of Fay. The second time Fay had already passed and she had been outside most of the day.
It could have been I startled her. She does scare easy. I'll keep an eye on her. I dont think its an UTI. She doesnt seem to be sick at all. Wouldnt she have other symptoms with a UTI?
Plus the fact that she did it twice in the same spot has got me wondering that theres something else goign on. LIke shes pissed at me (pun intended LOL).

sorry couldn't post before now. If the dog has peed on the couch or same place more than once what you need to do is buy and enzyme cleanser to clean the area.
The first time might have been because she couldn't go outside. But if a dog can still smell the scent of urine some place they have already gone they WILL go there again. Regular soaps and shampoos will not remove pet urine smells only a cleaner with enzymes will do that (you can get it places like petsmart).
If after the place has been cleaned with an enzyme cleaner and the dog still goes in that area , a check up is in order.
The only other thing that I can think of that can cause a dog to do that is stress, or a major change in their lives or routine.

I got that cleaner. I didnt think to use it to clean with DOH! I forgot i had it in the cabinet. I very rarely have to clean up messes like that.
She hasnt done it again. Maybe she was mad at us or something iunno *L* Hopefully she won't do it again cuz it sure is a pain to clean that off of a couch! Ugh!
