Bennigan's filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 7

S & A Restaurant Corp. and certain affiliates have filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 7 of the bankruptcy code.

The companies that filed bankruptcy cases are popularly known as Steak & Ale, Bennigan's and Tavern restaurants. However, not all stores using these trade names have filed bankruptcy. For example, stores operated by franchisees are not named as debtors in these filings. The filing does not include Ponderosa and Bonanza which operate under Metromedia Steakhouses Company, L.P."

All of the restaurants in our area closed last night - for good.

There is one franchise-owned restaurant in Tampa that is staying open.

I feel badly for the employees who had no warning and now may not get their final paychecks unless they go to court.

OMG DH turned down a job at a bennigans earlier this summer for the one he is working now! I had a bad feeling about him going to bennigans at the time and pushed him away from taking it! Those poor folks who lost their jobs :nono:
