View Full Version : 2008 Sweepstaking Goals and Kindnesses Thread

We're here to talk about making realistic sweepstaking goals for 2008. Is there a particular prize you'd like to win? (Cash, Wii's, etc...not included)
Would you like to be able to help those who are less fortunate by winning a prize and donating it to a non-profit organization?
We are here because we appreciate this gift, this hobby we call "sweepstaking". We are not here to complain about sponsors or cheaters.
This year I would really like to win a trip to Ireland or somewhere in Europe. It's a nice break to absorb the culture of other countries! Our family lived in Japan for two years while I was in the Army and it definitely was a great experience.
This year I would like to win some prizes and be able to donate them to this local organization that helps kids with cancer.
Thank you to the sweepstakers who value this hobby as a gift. We are fortunate that we have found this hobby and have stuck with it -- through all the ups and downs.

I'm like most sweepers in the fact that I would love to win either cash or a trip. I've been a member of OLS for almost 5 years and have yet to win a trip, much less a HOF.
But I remain undaunted and my spirit is always high with the anticipation that every expiration date brings.
I win lots of smaller prizes which I usually give to family. I makes me feel good to share my wins with them and they always appreciate them.
I started sweeping way back in the day of 3X5 index cards, envelopes and stamps that you had to lick and cheap stamps! A lot has changed since then. If you had asked me then if I would ever see myself belonging to a community like OLS, I probably would have laughed.
Hope springs eternal and I keep entering. I'll probably be doing this when I'm old and gray....... wait a minute...... I'm already doing that!

I have no goals! Maybe that's a bad thing...or maybe not. At least when I don't win something, I won't be sad in the end. If I win something....GREAT!!!! If not....there's always next time! :bubbles:

Oh i remember those days of snail mail and finding my sweepstakes on paper in a contest newsletter i subscribed to. Entering was more of a job and being organized was important. Now everything is so much easier at OLS. a click here... click there. I dont know if i have sweepstakes goals. I used to cut out pictures of prizes i wanted to win and paste it in a collage on my snail mail tin. I guess my goal is to enter daily and hope to win a HOF prize. I have won one HOF prize at OLS within a month of turning green. But my wins really slowed down in 2007. Did i get blacklisted from eprize because my husband got a little too drunk on the trip??????? lol. i am hoping that 2008 is a better year for me win wise. I have started to join in on the forums and have met some very nice people here. I guess a cash prize would be a very welcome win or an automobile prize. But any win is welcome. I love to get suprises in my mailbox.
Thanks to Brent and all the OP of each sweep. :cheer4:

I would love to win a new computer, ideally a laptop. I got my current computer in either 2001 or 2002. It's a dinosaur! :rofl3:

Other than a trip to Disney for my daughter...
I'd really love to win one of those Box Tops for Education contests. 10,000 - 20,000 points would be so awesome for my daughter's school. I've worked really hard at collecting BTFEs for her school this year and it would just be the icing on the cake for me.

Realistically I would love to win a dishwasher (although they are hard to find sweeps for), a modest cash prize (couple thousand), a desktop PC with all the bells and whistles, and a new mattress.
I don't really need other electronics or trips although I do enter for some.
:gvibes: to all!

I think everything IS a realistic goal
I try to distance myself from those who have the negative energy , who insist that they can win nothing
finding the sweep is the first step!!!
being positive is the 2nd step

I think I have a very positive attitude about this hobby. I always believe that my next big win is right around the corner...and it always seems to be.
On Tuesday, I found out I won a trip to Ireland. I'm so excited I can hardly breathe!
This hobby has enabled me to travel to places I would have never been able to go to otherwise. I've been on 5 different trip wins, I've won a car, a motorcycle and cash.
This might seem silly, but I have a 'prize wheel' that I put together on the wall next to my computer. I've pasted pictures of everything I want to win, and when I achieve that win, I find a new picture to put in it's place.
My 2008 sweeping goal is to win more trips. I'd love to go on another cruise (one of my wins last year). Another car would be nice.
I get excited about every win, large or small. I love surprises! I give most of the stuff away to my kids, or other family members, unless it's something I really really want.
I love this hobby. I can't imagine ever giving it up.

Quoting Queen here, "I want it all and I want it now"
I would like to continue my winning streak and win more snail mail sweeps!
When I won the Technology Makeover to winner's choice of non-profit organization from the MSN Search and Win Sweep (ah, the good old days....) I gave the makeover to a local women's shelter.
It took a long time to arrange things, but the shelter finally got to pick the things they wanted. I think they chose all new, large monitors for their computers, since I think they just upgraded their system.
I received a wonderful thank you card signed by all the employees/volunteers at the shelter, thanking me for the large monitors - thanking me for the 'easy on the eyes' work environment!
I cherish that card and love the warm and fuzzy feeling I get when I realize I played a part like that for a charity.......all due to winning a sweepstakes.
As I often remind my husband, "My hobby rocks!":cheer6:
Good luck, everyone!:magic:

Wow! A trip to Ireland!!! One of the ladies from my sweepstakes club just won a trip to Ireland, too!
I went out to the store "Five Below" and bought my wife and I a huge Ireland calendar. It sits above her desk and has pictures for each day.
Can you tell us how many days your trip consists of or any specifics?

I'm not really sure, the rules say 4 nights but the email said 5. The rules said Dublin,
but the lady I talked to said I could fly into Dublin, Belfast or Shannon. The rules say I have until November 2008 but the email said March of 2009.
I think we'll be going in June.
I have to research it more, but I'm thinking Dublin looks like fun. My husband is of Irish descent, so he's very excited too.
Rachael Ray just had a show on the Food Network about Dublin. My husband and I watched it and now we're hungry!

I've won a HOF but not a trip wiin and I'd love one to Ireland too as well as to the Superbowl.
I want to win a significant essay contest. I've won several but none with a big monetary payoff. Ditto for a naming and other skill contests.
I'd like to win a laptop for my son.
I'd like to win a motorcycle for my husband.
I'd like to win a yurt for my daughter, but I've yet to see a yurt sweepstakes.
Good luck to us :fairy3:

I so desperately need a vacation. My first choices would be a trip for my family to WDW or a trip to sandals for me and the hubster or a trip for the fam to beaches.
But honestly I just want to go somewhere.

Hi Rob! Thanks for starting this great thread!
Being of Irish descent (despite the huge Greek last name!) I, too, would love a trip to Ireland. I'll let you win first, then if there are any left, I would love one too! LOL!
A trip to Greece or Italy would be on my list too.
Honestly, I would love to win $$ for my children's high school.
A scholarship win for my DD who is attending college in September would be the best gift/prize ever!
Wishing everyone a wonderful, winning 2008!!!

Here's thinking positively that I will win one this year! :cheer3:

I REALLY want to win a trip to the 2008 Baseball All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium, assuming someone will be giving one away. I've never been to an All-Star game, and it's the final season for my team at the old stadium, before they move to the new one they're building.
I also would love to win a Vespa scooter.
Finally, I hope to have a HOF win this year, it's been 4 years here for me without one.
