We are all about (to use the MySpace term ...) "showing love" by mail. It's always fun to receive something in your mailbox besides bills! You can send whatever you like ~ whenever you like (minimum of once per 120 days) ~ to whoever you like. There is no minimum or maximum dollar amount set for what you can send; YOU decide. Snail Mail Fun members have received everything from postcards to jewelry and more :gvibes:

You must meet basic guidelines (http://forums.online-sweepstakes.com/showthread.php?t=641600) :

Basic guidelines are that you must be a member of OLS for 90 days and have 100 posts and not be on the Swap Bad List. Each swap host is allowed to make their guidelines more restrictive, these are general guidelines.

So exciting, I can't believe it's 2008, W@W, when I was a kid I never considered living in the 2000s, it seemed so far away! :offwall:

The polls don't close until Sunday, January 6. Alot of members haven't voted yet, but we'll go with what we have then. We've also got people voting that aren't in Snail Mail Fun, but their votes won't be counted in the final tally ;)

I haven't voted yet, but so far there are eight votes for capping at 50, one for 60, two for 75, one for less than those, and six valid votes for no, not at all.

It looks like we will probably limit Snail Mail Fun to 50, but let's wait a few more days and see :gvibes: Although we're currently at 48 on the list ~ it does leave room for growth because we're also looking at removing inactive members. Right now there are nine people that have been inactive for two months.

I just sent an ecard to all of the close to 150 people that used to be on Snail Mail and to some of the newer people that I have emails for and had over 100 sent back as delivery failure!!! :( This ecard had an extra surprise and I was upset to see so many undeliverable that were in my address book and receive ecards from me from other sites.

I am going to be sending emails over the next few weeks to the people I have in my email account to make sure I have a working email address and to be sure you still want to be on my ecard list.
I hope ya'll don't mind, but I don't want to be sending out so many ecards and having them returned.


Edited to add: I just found out one person that DID receive the ecard had Hallmark send it 14 times!!! :O

Hallmark was messing up when I was trying to send the card and kept saying try again, so I guess they sent it every time even though it said there were problems and it hadn't been sent. Just look at it this way, if you opened the card and waited for the 'surprise', you have a bunch of 'surprises' to share!!! :)

I'll write more on the benefits of this change later, but the primary advantage for me is more powerful editing. I've mentioned that the Google Docs spreadsheet is easy-to-use, but lacks alot of bells and whistles. We've also had a few people have problems accessing it.

Right now, when I edit the spreadsheet I have to move between Google Docs and Excel several times. ThinkFree eliminates all this for me, and I believe will provide a better shared spreadsheet for all of us in the long run.

I'll write more later. Thanks for your patience and understanding!

I like the way thinkfree looks and signing up was free.

♥ The "View Profile" column (last column) was removed. Now you can click on Username to go to OLS profiles.

♥ I formatted cells individually for those who did not wish to include years of birth or anniversary and removed the year "9999".

♥ I can highlight alternate rows all at once. With Google Docs I had to highlight each row individually.

♥ I can edit row height. Inserting a row automatically defaults to the current row height. Google Docs inserted short row heights that had to be heightened in Excel.

I think that ThinkFree's more java-based than Google Docs.

I know some of you are frustrated with getting in to ThinkFree for the first time. It's all trial and error ... I figured out that logins are case specific. If you gave me your email address with all lower case or with caps and don't log in the exact same way ~ it won't work.

If you've tried registering and think that might be the problem ~ JLMK. I'll be happy to add another contact for you, and when I hear it works I'll remove the previous one.

If for some reason you're unable to register an account I will do it for you with a temporary password that you can change after you confirm your account.

I didn't want to make this hard for anyone. I was simply looking to make my work easier (in the long run). That way I'll have more time to sit down at my other desk and try to send out some Snail Mail Fun rather than spending alot of time working on the spreadsheet :gvibes:

You're right, it is case sensitive with the email. The original way you entered it IS correct, it's just that the email account itself isn't case sensitive and actually shows as all lowercase and I had just copy/pasted my email address from my account instead of typing it in.

People like to know that their mail got there. The cards you received from Snail Mail Fun should be marked "Snail Mail Fun". I know most, if not all, of mine were.

I've doublechecked for underlying circumstances and there are none.

♥ Inactive members will be removed after three months. There are six other members that have shown no activity since signing up for Snail Mail Fun. Any of them that continue to not participate will be removed in early February.

I just checked the document details and it looks like you were able to successfully open an account. I entered your email address all lower-case. Is that what you used for your account? Do you have the latest java (not javascript) installed and enabled in your browser??

It looks like several people are unregistered. I think that means they haven't looked at the new spreadsheet at all.

I received a PM from Grace this morning that she successfully registered and viewed the spreadsheet :gvibes:

I don't know which browser you use, but you can open the frame in a new tab and then print preview before printing. I use FF and IE, but Firefox primarily. My commands were right click ~ "This Frame" ~ "Open Frame in New Tab".

You're welcome. I don't do anything fancy with the postcards. I just take a photo that I like then use a glue stick all over the back of it. Put an unruled index card on top and that's it. I like to draw a line down the middle. Then put the 26 cent stamp on and voila! It's cheaper than buying postcards. I use them for my entries....they are different than the rest.

A great big, belated "Thank You" to janbutty for the hilarious IRS postcard. Girl, that is soooo my life with 5 animals...I just need their vet visits to be medical deductions in the worst way.

I apologize for the delay in responding, but I just picked up a week's worth of mail. We were grieving with family. My maternal great-aunt, Dorothy Owsley, passed last week in Opelika, AL. She was the last of 19 children born to a Southern Baptist Preacher and a wonderful Native American Homemaker. My Gradmother, Ruby, and my Great-Aunt who raised me, Lena, were her big sisters. Surely, something very special ended last week and we are all feeling the pain of knowing that loss is so very permanent. Your light-hearted welcome back to my life, my home, and my waiting tax returns (ughhh!) was so very timely and deeply appreciated. Many wins to you as well.

Thanx Shirley (phredj) for the cute card and neat magnetic bookmarks!!! That's neat how someone thought to make them like the old metal clip on lapel pins. I actually used to have some of the pins when I was younger & used them as bookmarks (along with anything else I could find)...lol
I showed them to my mother & she asked when they stole my dog, Daisy, to take her picture for them. One of the dogs looks just like Daisy, even down to the purple collar!!! :O
