As a baseball fan and major CUBS fan....it saddens me to hear about the corked bat.......even if it was a mistake.....it lessens Sammy's accomplishments in the eyes of baseball fans......

Oh Sammy "say it isn't" So-sa! You say that you didn't Know-sa!
I'm thinking probably around a 10 game suspension (with a hefty fine) - but his credibility probably will be shot (at least for a while). But I think that he isn't the only one doing it, he just got caught.
I'm actually a fan of an American League team, but I have been watching the White Sox play recently. Am I White Sox fan??? Nahhhhhhh! But I am crazy about Brian Daubach  (sorry, lol), who is now a member of the team, so I have to watch, lol.

I truly fell in love with baseball back when I was in college and our Radio/Television communications instructor told us to find someone with a unique voice and study their style ........I picked Harry Carey (deceased Cubs announcer) , would read about how the CUBBIES were cursed,etc...history of CUBS but I started watching and couldn't stop..I have a thing for the underdog as well.......That was when Ryne Sandberg/Mark Grace played.......anyhoo......I think Sammy will suffer a 10 to 15 game suspension and a hefty fine......thats like the debate on Pete Rose.....what he did was wrong but he's been blackballed for so long.......he's "served"more time for his gambling crimes than most rapists/criminals serve.....I believe he accomplished alot in baseball......he's served his time now send him to the hall of fame........

I'm going to second, oh wait third it about Pete Rose - I believe that he should be in the Hall, right along with Shoeless Joe. Dad and I drove down to the Hall about a year and a 1/2 ago, it's like a pilgramage and I just plain felt that Cooperstown was magnificant, and I got some great pics. Too bad we weren't there on a day that they were playing at DoubleDay field. Would have been awesome.
I love this interleague play - right now my team is playing the Pirates...

There is hope yet folks.......this story off the AP news wire.....
CHICAGO (AP) - Sammy Sosa's 76 bats confiscated by baseball officials showed no signs of cork in X-rays taken the day after he was ejected for using an illegal bat in a game.
The bats were taken from the Chicago Cubs' locker room during the game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Tuesday night. Cork was found in Sosa's bat when it shattered after he grounded out in the first inning of the Cubs' 3-2 victory.
``The bats were clean and had no foreign substances in them,'' said Sandy Alderson, executive vice president of baseball operations in the commissioner's office. ``That is consistent with Sammy's explanation of the incident last night.''
Sosa said he accidentally pulled out a bat he uses to put on home run displays for fans in batting practice. He has had dozens of bats break in the past few years with nothing suspicious found.
He was in the lineup for Wednesday night's game against Tampa Bay.
``I stood up yesterday like a man and took the blame,'' Sosa said. ``But the media today, they've got me up there like I'm a criminal.''
Sosa could face a suspension of up to 10 games, but Alderson said the decision will be made by Bob Watson, baseball's vice president in charge of discipline.
Watson was expected to arrive in Chicago by Thursday morning and will conduct interviews at the ballpark.
Alderson said commissioner Bud Selig was ``very concerned.''
``He has strong personal affection for Sammy,'' Alderson said. ``At the same time, he instructed his office to conduct a thorough investigation.''
Wow! I hope the media lets up on Sammy, it appears he did make a mistake...and Tommy for the record I can't tell you how many times even now that Harry Carey is gone that I still yell..........IT MIGHT BE, IT COULD BE, HOLLLLLLYY COW! A HOME RUN! And as for Pete Rose someday he will make it to the Hall , I just hope its in his lifetime......
