Anybody, anything, but more Scrub.

Glamarosi, you beat me.
Do you seriously think you're going to get any sort of a real poll out of this?
Maybe you should have added another option: "Original Poster is Trolling"

How about an independent option? I'm a third-party gal myself.

generallly for the third party myself. when the democrats and republicans can only inspire half of the eligible public to vote , there is something very wrong.
jaybat
May 31st, 2003, 4:33pm
Maybe more significant is that of the people who are inspired to vote, it's not because they like the one they're voting for, they may not care about him one way or another - they're just voting against the other guy.

Gee, this is real fair and unbiased.
I'm with Patrice, Jaybat and Karen - not gonna vote on this "poll."

For people who are not independently wealthy almost anyone would be a better choice than Bush.
A year ago I would have said that Bush was almost certainly going to be re-elected, but now he is angering a lot of people from all of the political parties. I think that 2004 is going to be another close one.

I am a third-party guy as well, but there is no way you are going to stop me from voting against Bush and for whomever has the best chance to take him out. I'll sacrifice my principled vote for some help at saving the Constitution.

I think the 2004 election will hinge upon the economy.
I don't think the economy's going to improve all that much by election time, 2004. That's why it will make a difference. If the economy is in good shape, voters are more likely to vote on other issues. If the economy's rotten, the voters will vote to "punish" Bush by denying him a second term.

Add me to the list of "non-voter's" in this one. I personally agree that like him or not, he's still the president and should be so namely addressed as such.
Gee if Clinton was still in office, what would they call him on this poll? Adulterer, scumbag, liar, etc., etc., etc.

:smile3: I have voted for Republicans all my life, but I just can't do it anymore. I would also have a hard time voting for any of the democrats that are currently running for the position. My only hope is that Sen. McCain will run as an independent. He would get my vote.:smile4:

I agree that as president he should be named as such, regardless of the swindlin ways he got that title. Needless to say, a good portion of our country voted him into that office, so now we are all paying the price.
Personally I would love to see Howard Dean get the nomination for the DNC. Being as how he is also the most attractive and we live in shallow times, he would most likely get the uneducated vote. He is quite moderate & has actually cut taxes in VT since he was elected, he also has a strong political background, but started out as a doctor. Strong finances and strong environment - doesn't come across as the democratic party we have all grown to love and hate. He would get my vote hands down, I can only hope the DNC chooses wisely.

I vote for President Bush! :cheer:
He has done a great job for our country. He stands for what is right no matter how much he gets put down for it. If we had a congress full of people who were there to do the right thing, and not just there for the power and money, think of how great this country could really be!

If this was poll was taken by a Dixie Chick would tempers flare?

I would like to know what you mean by scrub? I think this is a lack of respect and do not think this poll should have been posted-it's not nice. This is not a good thing for this site-I don't care if people like Bush or not. What's up with this?

Unfortunately the system of democracy in America is such that no one I would welcome into my house can be elected President. Republican or Democrat, doesn't matter - you now must be a "politician" to win and politicians are compromised individuals by definition.
Clinton did the country a lot of good but he was a scumbag. George W. seems to genuinely believe in what he is doing as the right thing, but his actions are wrong for the vast majority of America because he's working a good ole boy system. It goes on and on as you look back with all recent presidencies.
It really chaps my hide to listen to any recent president speak, all they do is a bunch of doublespeak and artfully dodge the issues hoping no one will actually judge them on their actions. When they come under fire they attack the other guy. Childish.

I think so, too. A few days ago "The Daily Show" had an episode comparing Bush's views on various topics when he was governor and today and he completely contradicted himself on everything.

Yet no one was calling you anti-American for disliking Clinton, were they? I don't have much respect for the man's morality myself, but the things that were said about Clinton when he was in office were more vicious and disrespectful than anything anyone has said about President Bush on this board or just about anywhere else, for that matter.
P.S. Clinton was a Rhodes scholar who had earned his way into Yale. He wasn't a legacy.

No, everyone just chose to ignore the facts because the economy was so good. They see clinton as a man who made them wealthy, not someone who lied to a grand jury and got away with it.
just my opinion - not meaning to offend anyone here.

I don't see Clinton as someone who made me wealthy, but I also don't think it's fair that it was acceptable to call him all sorts of vile names but now that Mr. Bush is in office if someone so much as calls him a "scrub" they're anti-American.

Shirley MacLaine was asked about her support of JFK in spite of his well-documented problems with women: "I'd rather he do it to a woman than to the country."
Clinton was a very good president despite his personal morals and problems with self control. He's a self made man, born poor in Arkansas to a single mother. A Rhodes scholar who made his own breaks with hard work and smarts. I'd vote for him again in a heatbeat.

I, personally, did not call clinton anything but, "the president", while he was in office.
My personal experience with the clinton administration was that the minute he was first elected, he did some slashing to the military budget and I immediately lost my government job that I held for 6 years. So, I was disappointed and vowed not to vote for him in the next election.
This time, I voted for Bush, because I wasn't thrilled with Gore. As far as the next election, who knows - we'll have to see who's running.
Just my humble opinion - I did not intend to offend anyone and that's the great thing about this site, lots of differing opinions.

Hey now. I'm not exactly sure what you meant by that, but since we are both die-hard sweeps fans I don't see why I can't reply to your statement. I tried to as mildly as possible, you know.
"Don't let up" is pretty harsh. I just hope people don't vote one way or another because of a trend on a BBS.

How on Earth are we cleaner? No more cigars in the White House maybe, but what about real policy?
Just to set the record straight, Clinton lied on the stand. He should have been tossed out of office. Bush has lied to the American people and the world to justify a war. The same goes for him.
I would much rather see government held accountable than do I care who the president is or what party he (someday she, I hope) is from.
