Okay...Today is two weeks since I have had my tonsils removed and I am still in hurting like hell. It was getting better and I was going to go back to work yesterday. Well Sunday morning about 5AM I started to bleed and bleed and bleed. It wouldn't stop, it was disgusting. Anyway I had to go to the ER and they had to call in a ENT (ear, nose & throat)surgeon and they had to cauderize my bleeders. There were three bleeders in my throat, so now I am back to being painful and another week off of work. I cannot wait until this is over!! :mad3:

Oh, sorry to hear you are having such a rough time of it. An extra week off work is GREAT when you get to spend it in Hawaii, but spending it in pain isn't quite the same, huh?
Here's hoping you're feeling better soon!

Sorry to hear this...Now I'm going to really worry about my 6 yr old who is going to be having her adenoids removed and tubes put in and he may decide to take her tonsils out while he's in there. THey told me 2 week recovery. She goes in August.
Hope you feel better soon.

My daughter was 5 last year and had her's out and did fine. After a week and a half she was back to normal.

I feel for you. I had mine out several years ago and it was not fun. It sounds like you are having a much roughter time. Hope you are healed and backed to "normal" soon! :gvibes:

I have heard the older you are the tougher it is. I hope you feel better soon.
I talked to the ENT about having mine out, but he said that he really didn't want to do it. I had two surgeries on my neck a year ago and he doesn't think it is a good idea for me right now.

The older you are when you have this done then the worse the recovery process can be. I was around 21 when I had it and the recovery process/time was horrible. To beat it all I had it done to correct ongoing ear problems; the surgery didn't help as I still have ear problems, oh well. If a child needs to have the surgery completed then don't put it off. I'm so sorry you're having complications, my heart goes out to you cause I remember how bad it sucked. Good luck and here is wishing it's over soon for you!!!!

Thank God because this post scared me. My daughter has already said to me "I don't want to go to sleep, because I won't wake up". Now tell me a comment like that wouldn't upset you.

It's probably difficult to eat, but try to make sure your diet has enough zinc in it.
Zinc helps you heal and speeds up the process a bit.

Don't worry too much about...please don't! It's natural as a parent to worry some, but there is really no reason to over-worry about a 6 year old having that procedure. It's a very common and routine procedure for kids. It's ADULTS it's not easy on.
When I was in 2nd grade (or was it 4th?) I had my tonsils and adenoids out....I was fine. My brother has had his out....my neice has had hers out (she had to have hers out before the recommended age).
Your 6 year old should be fine. :)
