. . . for your stay in Dearborn when you're not attending convention events?
I was looking thru the restaurant listings in Dearborn and put BD's Mongolian BBQ (http://www.gomongo.com/locations/locationDetails.php?loc=3) on my list of places I wanna eat at. Another place I wanna go to is Benihana's (http://www.benihana.com/menus.asp)
I also want to hang out any OLS'r party(ies) that may take place (I've heard from some that there are a lot of parties, and others said there isn't any parties, but those people also claim to be :halo: ) - please don't forget to put me on the guest list of your party :cool2:
I don't know if I wanna do any of the tours that were listed at the convention site. Still thinking about that.
So, what are your plans?
:cheer2:

All I know is that Kat and I get off the plane at 9 a.m. on Friday morn. Who's meeting us with a bloody mary?
That BBQ place sounds cool Kiss. We should all go and take it over.
Tour...not my bag. Although the Ford museum sounds kind of neato.

I'm not going to the convention but work right near the Hyatt. I hope y'all don't mind me letting you know about the what's around there.
Michigan Avenue in West Dearborn has all kinds of restaurants to choose from. Today I saw they are building a Buffalo Wild Wings, maybe it will be done by the time you all get here. That area used to be a great place to shop for almost anything and there are still a few places but mostly just places to eat. There's a Weight Watchers in a teeny tiny spot right in the middle of it all :-)
Anyway, there's a Putt-Putt golf place on Ford Road in Dearborn Heights which could be fun...There's the TPC in Dearborn for real golf but don't know much about it. Greenfield Village is kind of interesting, lots of history. The thing I remember most is that they had the chair that Abe Lincoln was in when he was shot at Ford Theater and Edison's workshop, I think...but there's a lot more than that.
Oh, I almost forgot, there's Miller's Bar, famous for hamburgers. Their burgers make national lists for the best of. I don't know if they're that great but it's a thought. Bailey's is fun, they have pool tables.
There's also Guilio's right there in the Hyatt, they have an excellent buffet.
If I weren't such a homebody lately I could give you good ideas for fun. I hope you have great weather, it's usually quite lovely here in June.

For those of us not planning to go on either Friday nite event, maybe we can have an OLS'er party at Benihana's. I'm game for any place to hang with my fellow sweepers.
And miniature golf between friends sounds like fun as I haven't played that in ages.

I go to Dearborn and Detroit all the time, and I just want to tell you that Greenfield Village is not just a museum, they have a museum, but also the village is just great to see and to shop at, I like the village better than the museum. Also don’t forget, they have shuttles from the Dearborn Hyatt going 24 hours to the three casinos: MGM Grand, Motor City, and Greek Town Casino. All the casinos have some really nice buffets and good restaurants. Greek Town has some great restaurants and all walking distance in and around the Greek Town casino. Also there are shuttles to Comerica Park for a Tiger baseball game, Joe Louis for a Red Wing Hockey game, or Ford Field for a Lions football game. They are all in the downtown area. You also can take a tunnel bus across the river to Windsor Canada, (Bring your birth certificate or pass port) they also have a large casino there. The Fox Theater has some good shows going on with Vegas performers all the time. You will not be bored in the Detroit area. Have Fun!!!!

If you are thinking of going to any of the casinos I suggest #1 Greek Town Casino or #2 MGM Grand casino. I really don’t recommend Motor City Casino for out of town visitors. If you are a smoker, remember Windsor Canada has NO smoking any where.

I am totally up for the Mongolian BBQ place.....and you can throw in a couple of jello shots while you're at it. (But none for DH, he doesn't drink!)
P.S. And hey, Maxrocks, you can make a great vegie meal at the Mongolian BBQ place - they have a big "salad bar" of all kinds of veggies as well as meat. The only thing you might not like is that they cook it on the same grill as the meat, but they do wash it down with water (which boils instantlly) between the meals they cook.

Oopsie! Sorry, I wrote down the incorrect city that has the miniature golf, it should be Garden City, it's the city right after Dearborn Heights. It's still on Ford Road, but between Inkster Road and Middlebelt, closer to Middlebelt on the North side of the street (almost across the street from Taco Bell).
I had a link to MapQuest but it was huge! Anyway, it said it should take about 15 minutes to get there from the Hyatt.
Here are the addresses if you'd like to MapQuest the directions for yourself:
Hyatt Regency Dearborn:
313-982-1359
100 Town Center Dr,
Dearborn, MI 48126, US
Ford Road Miniature Golf:
734-425-9816
29060 Ford Rd,
Garden City, MI 48135, US
Have fun if you decide to go :-)

Sis and I arrive at 10am on Thursday, so we will have the entire day ahead of us. I'll be getting up ay 4am, so I suspect I'll have to squeeze in a nap somewhere during the first day. The kids want me to stop and take a picture of the big tire. That will be our first stop from the airport. Who knows where we will end up after that exciting stop

The Henry Ford museum is opening a new display - Rock Stars' Cars and Guitars! Starting June 9th
Among the cars - they will have John Lennon's classic 1965 Rolls Royce Phantom V and a car from some band called 'KISS' - never heard of them but there might be a fan out there somewhere. You never know. :laugh2: 1999 Plymouth Prowler, “KISSCAT”
Among the guitars - three guitars in the display from this 'KISS' band again.
http://www.thehenryford.org/museum/rockstars/index.html
Sounds like a groovy bit of history. If I don't make it while I'm down for the convevtion, I'll have to drag my husband kicking and screaming to go see John Lennon's car with me. But he'll behave once I tell him that we can go to the Walter P. Chrysler museum and look at all the groovy classic Chrysler cars.......sigh.....again. LOL
This weekend at the Chrysler museum, there's a big car show - Saturday, June 9, 2007
Chrysler Employee Motorsport Association (CEMA) Show – hundreds of vehicles representing all makes grace the Museum’s grounds.
http://www.chryslerheritage.com/
Maybe after he is placated by all the MOPARs on display, I can guide him towards the Detroit Zoo and look at the groovy polar bear exhibit. There are glass covered tunnels you walk in while the polar bears swim above you. Even though every time I've went there, the bears are sleeping!
