I've heard rumors that Atlanta is the place. Does anyone know who's on this committee? Please let me know, I would love to speak with them regarding some valuable insight on finding a great venue.

Not confirmed - clubs that want to try for 2009 will be bidding for it in June - then we'll have a location for sure:) I know of at least 3 clubs who may try for it:)

Yes, I would interested in knowing what other clubs are going for it. My sources told me that Atlanta was one and I think New Hampshire was going to put in a bid. Don't know who the third one was going to be. I'm sure that someone from those clubs going to put in a bid are subscribers to this newsletter so maybe someone from the clubs will step forward and comment.

Someone did approach me to see if I would be willing to take one on, but I gracefully declined. Hershey was my max. and will remain that way.

2008 San Antonio is a done deal. I know that several clubs have said they may try for 2009 and beyond. Yes Atlanta and NH are 2 that I know of and I know of at least one other that may try for those years - really until the meetings happen and convention rolls around we won't really know who is in for sure:)

Thanx for the info. Would like to visit either area in 2009 as I've never been to either.

Coca Cola in Atlanta and ?????? in New Hampshire.

I just hope that the future conventions go back to having it in the Spring. San Antonio is having it over Labor Day weekend which is going to be really rough to those getting kids off for the start of school, etc.

I heard that 2008 is done as well...but when you say "done", do you mean that the group has been finalized or the hotel has been finalized? If the former and not the latter, I would like to find the group who "won" the bidding. Is that possible?

2008 is a "done deal" as far as bidding - but they also have their location secured at this time. I currently have no contact information for the 2008 group.

I'm just trying to have one phone conversation with one person who is involved with one of the future meetings. I have a valuable, completmentary service that will save members tons of time and money in their venue searches.

If anyone can provide any info anyone involved in these future events, it would really be appreciated. Thanks!

but guessing that when the clubs make their presentation at each year's Convention, that they already have the hotel, rate, banquet, and a general outline of what their city/venue offers. I am guessing they also present the hotel cost, convention fee, etc., at that time. So, since the 2008 folks have already made their presentation and been chosen, they already have made their choices for venue. The folks you would need to now contact would be the various clubs planning on presenting at the 2007 Convention for the 2009 Convention. They are certainly planning as we speak as their presentations will need to be made in June in Dearborn. I know of no national listing for each and every club that may or may not be planning on presenting and perhaps your only chance of offering your services would be to come to Dearborn and advertise for the 2010 Conventioneers that may be lobbying for convention then. I am not sure how active any club members are on OLS....in fact, would be surprised if the movers and shakers would be...the Conventions have historically been more or less geared towards snail mailers. But, as more and more folks enter online and then pick up snailing, the word is getting out about Conventions and thus, more onliners are attending. I am excited to hear who will win 2009, as my goal is to attend them all in the future!

If what you say is true about San Antonio holding convention in Sept. 2008 that will make it difficult for many of us to attend. But then again may be easier because it is a holiday weekend and won't have to take Monday off as it will be a paid holiday.

As a school employee, I work so would have to skip that convention. :grad:
