I have had swap buddies not post the contents of what I picked for them. When you take your time to find gifts for your buddy and anticipate their receiving it, it is disappointing when they don't list what they got. I try and list and post a picture, but at least say what your package contained. That is what makes swaps so much fun for everyone involved.

1st was the beautiful card, with an Indiana post card, and a sterling silver flower charm which is beautiful! My birthday gift is Bath and Body works, Sensual Amber, 2 body splashes and body lotion, a pair of black socks with glittery hearts and a pair of white socks that are lacy, a notepad with a pen, a pencil with a gift topper and lots of candy and cookies! Skittles, red hots, chips deluxe. oreo thin crisps, suckers, a Kit Kat bar, and a Reeses peanut butter cup with caramel! She said to share with my GS-----no chance of that! :cheer8:

I received my birthday swap gift from Rangerxenos today :gift:. However, since it is only three days before my birthday I plan to wait and open it then. Thank you Rangerxenos, just receiving the box in the mail has been exciting.

I opened my gift first thing this morning, even before my first cup of coffee. My daughter helped me to unwrap all of the beautiful gifts. I received:

I suppose this was for Altusbecky. I hope she didn't/doesn't receive my already ten-days late birthday swap :( I think it would be hard to confuse an envelope and a package though.

Don't let me be the reason you discontinue participating in swaps ~ although I'm probably done with them too (no reflection on you or the birthday swap). It's just too iffy not knowing who's got your name. My personal experience has been about 50% extravagant and generous swappers like yourself and 50% cheap, disappointing, and stingy swappers who barely meet the minimum - if they do at all.

I hope you will enjoy a fabulous vacation ~ and that time heals all hurts.

I know I had one lost from June, I've been sending them all each month. I wonder if it's because the card was a little smaller than 'standard' size? All the others have been received so far, though, so who knows?

If folks are consistently sending cards and have a good track record of being responsible and caring in swaps, then I think it is wrong to be accusatory when one card is missing or overlooked. I feel a bit defensive about the fuss that was made because my name was not on ONE person's list. Turns out it was an oversight and she had received it, but what if it had never made it due to postal error? Would I deserve to be questioned about it? Can't we just chaulk up one missing card to "ooops" and only question people if they make a habit of not fulfilling their promises? I think the fun has sort of been sucked out of this for me if folks are going to react negatively if one of my cards ever gets lost in the mail. These swaps aren't business arrangements...they are supposed to be fun gestures of support and well wishe. If I need to send birthday cards return receipt requested, then I really missed the point of this whole thing :(

I had one month where one of the cards I sent was not received. I sent a second after I got a email saying the first was not received. Not too much trouble, I had another card and postage is minimal. However, getting bad listed ovar a card is pretty harsh. Maybe someone who doesn't send their birthday month box. But not a card.

And just as a note, I was one of the first peeps to receive cards and although my B-day was the 3rd, I received cards for the whole month and I LOVED it! It was great to get so many cards spread out over the month. So everyone chill if you don't get your card before your birthday and enjoy all the wonderful surprised the mailman will bring you!

In addition to the year's subscription to Bon Appetit magazine and the three cartons of sugar free gummis I already received, kimkij went out of her way to spoil me (she worked hard to find things that appeal to my interests).

I got two pairs of beautiful silver and gemstone earrings (topaz and amethyst). And I got an adorable Tipsies froggie sculpture. This cute little guy was made by artist Kitty Cantrell. He comes with a special Hoppy Birthday message :). And - because I once posted about how I love old photographs - kimkij sent me an array of old photos that are turn of the (20th) century vintage. I'm going to have so much fun putting these into use in a project or projects. I do collages and altered books and ideas for these are forming in my brain.

Thank you, phredj! I received a beautiful, modern table sculpture of a mother and child. It went immediately on my desk in my room to complement the one modern sculpture I already have. The one I have is different; it is all white and free form and the mother is voluptuous and the child that is nestled against her is removable. Yours is very streamlined and dark and the mother and child are sutured together by holding hands. Thank you so much for finding this for me. Mother-child sculpture is a favorite thing of mine. I will cherish it forever!

I also received a mysterious package that contained a silver chain and silver pendant w/ a brown stone. There was no note so I asked phredj if she sent it to me. She sure did. My first three birthday cards arrived today, and it just gave me all sorts of warm fuzzies. I saw a hot pink envelope peeking out between two bills and felt that childlike burst of joy, thinking "Oh...it's almost my birthday time of year! WooooHooo!

What Shirley might not even know is that I am a presenter at a conference in March 2008 in Hawaii. I've never been before and have become fascinated with island culture.

I honestly don't know where to begin. I can genuinely say that I have never been so surprised, pleased and touched by a birthday gift in my entire life. I have participated in many swaps and enjoyed all the wonderful things...just like I value the gifts over the years from family and close friends. That being said, I've never felt so "heard" by opening a gift box. This box was not created from leftover wins, a trip to the dollar store or any other generic method. cspence spend valuable time getting to know me as a person in my threads and then she spent way too much time and money creating a collection of joy taylored to my every freakish obsession. I just don't have the words to properly express my gratitude and delight now that I've finished crying, so I'll just move on to the obligatory posting of the contents. Cynthia...girl you rock!

1. 4 homemade bookmarks with ribbons and accents featuring my Avatar, my profile picture, my favorite saying...and paying homage to my odd obsession with purple elephants. This would have been more then enough, but...

2. A Mug with my Avatar..."The Doctor in in!" (and I'm keeping the delightful striped box it came in to!)

3. A large tote bag with my avatar. My students will get a hoot from this. I'll carry it like a purse on Monday just to amuse everyone with my increasingly bizarre fascination with Dr. Lucy.

4. A mousepad with my avatar...just loving it! Mine is all curling up on the edges and badly in need of replacement. This is perfect!

5. A HUGE Lucy lollipop that says "Sour or Nothing!" Though I'm tempted to keep it as a treasure, the PMS monster is taking over control of my body and I may have to sugar binge this evening. The ladylike thing to do would be to break it in pieces, but I think I'll revel in the childlike indulgence of eating it the traditional way...wonder how many licks it takes?

5. Oh, oh, oh.... 3 RUBBER DUCKIES!!!! I love rubber duckies! One is the Pink Ribbon Duckie benefiting Breast Cancer Awareness (great cause - thank you) and the other two are dressed for Halloween as a cat and a witch!

6. Oh no you didn't...a whole bag of Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate Squares with an instant win game piece. These are my favorites and I want to open the bag and dig for the game piece, but in my current state (see #5 above), I don't dare open the bag today.

7. A whole stack of postcards from California in and around Cynthia's hometown, making me want to visit the west coast soon. If I ever hit the big cash win, I'm so staying at that Desert Springs Resort and Spa with the indoor lake and waterfall. I just love postcards and the notes telling where she is in relation to these places was a really cool touch!

8. A really amazing birthday card featuring Lucy as the Mona Lisa. I don't know if you can see it clearly in the picture above, but it's just too cute.

Finally, no one in a swap has ever taken the time to beautifully wrap and ribbon each individual item in a box. Cynthia, you are appreciated and cherished and I hope that YOU are abundantly blessed, fairy dust sprinkled, and watched over by all that is goodness and light!

No worries! With our birthday falling so early in the month, there may be more on the way. The swap runs through February since it started in March. I am not sure if I will run another birthday swap. There are 2 parts to this one. One part has buddies sending cards. The other part has people sending a package to their buddy before their birthday.

I got my first birthday card yesterday from Janet! Thanks so much!

This is going to be hard for me as because my birthday is the day after Christmas, I usually wait until the 26th to open any birthday cards and gifts. I don't like having my birthday so close to the holiday! I guess I should feel special, I'm the only one on the card list for December, LOL!
