Okay I was thinking last night about the swaps and I had an idea for a different kind of swap. The idea behind 6 for 6 is that you send out six envelopes containing exactly the same things and get back six envelopes from 6 other people. Because each swap would say exactly what should be in the envelopes (See below) there would not be anyone feeling bad because they got more or less. And it wouldn't matter how many people signed up because each person would send 6 and get 6.

This would work best for items where you can never have enough variety. Crafters, scrapbookers, etc. would do great for a 6 for 6 sweep.

Examples:

6 for 6 Fat Quarters: each person buys 1 and 1/2 yards of fabric and sends out 6 envelopes of containing a fat quarter each. She then gets back 6 envelopes each containing a different fat quarter.

6 for 6 Card Stock/papers: each person buys a package of card stock and a package of matching scrapbooking paper and sends out 6 envelopes of containing 3 sheets of card stock and 3 sheets of matching paper (or 6 or whatever). She then gets back 6 envelopes with 18 sheets of cardstock and 18 sheets of scrapbooking paper in 6 different designs.

6 for 6 Stationary: each person buys a package of stationary and sends out 6 envelopes of containing 3 sheets of stationary and 3 matching envelopes (or 6 or whatever). She then gets back 6 envelopes with 18 sheets of stationary and 18 matching envelopes in 6 different designs.

This wouldn't be a secret swapper thing or ongoing commitment... and you would only be out the cost of postage for each swap because you are getting back exactly what you sent out. We could do anything that you use in quantity and variety that is usually sold in bulk (at least in sets of like 18). And because the weight is very light shipping would be the matter of putting a few stamps on a manilla envelope.

Okay thoughts on this??? Is this something you would like to do? Do you have other ideas for 6 for 6 swaps? (I was thinking note cards, postcards, and cristmas cards would work good as you usually buy them by the box. Also ribbons and embellishments for the scrapbookers... buy your ribbon by roll and get back 6 different kinds of ribbon in yard lengths)

Or am I just loosing my mind?

I think it's a great idea. I don't do many swaps, but I'd like to join one as soon as I find one that catches my interest. Not sure what to swap, but you've already got some great ideas there.

WHEWWW, I was being to think that I dreamed this up and it was the worst idea in the history of creation. LOL

I guess this sorta thing would appeal more to the crafters and sewers of us who can never have enough variety in thier "stash".
