View Full Version : Do you remember this?

Anyone remember this?? My brother sent me this last week, and I thought that it was quite interesting. There were many pictures with it, but it showed the towers coming down, or burning, and really are just to much to have to see again. This hasn't been verified by myself or my brother, just an interesting article.

It was 1987! At a lecture the other day they were playing an old news video of Lt.Col. Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration.

There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third degree, but what he said was stunning!

He was being drilled by a senator; "Did you not recently spend close to $60,000 for a home security system?"

Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir."

The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience, "Isn't that just a little excessive?"

"No, sir," continued Ollie.

"No? And why not?" the senator asked.

"Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir."

"Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned.

"By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered.

"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?"

"His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied.

At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued. Why are you so afraid of this man?" the senator asked.

"Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of", Ollie answered.

"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the senator.

"Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth."

The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip.

By the way, that senator was Al Gore

Also:

Terrorist pilot Mohammad Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986. The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release so-called "political prisoners."

However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands, The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners be released.

Thus Mohammad Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center. This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified. It was censored in the US from all later reports.

Comments: Sorry, wrong terrorist. When Colonel Oliver North defended his government-purchased home security system before a Congressional committee in 1987, he cited threats on his life from the infamous Palestinian terrorist Abu Nidal, not Osama bin Laden. The latter was busy fighting the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan at the time. Bin Laden's fervent hatred of the U.S. is said by most sources to date from 1990, when American troops were stationed in his home country of Saudi Arabia in response to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.

ALSO~~~Oliver North's Response to the Email Rumor
"As you will note, the originator attributes to me certain statements regarding Usama bin Laden and other matters that are simply inaccurate. Though I would like to claim the gift of prophesy, I don't have it."

I didn't go ahead and check it, I just put up there what was sent to my brother, who in turn sent it to me. Just thought that it was interesting, that's all. I don't normally post anything political because it's always a hot topic, and starts arguements.

As shown by the first post on this thread, the U.S. should encourage Israel to keep all Arab terrorists locked up. The last time Israel was force to release terrorists at the behest of the U.S., they showed their appreciation for the U.S. by blowing up a part of it. The U.S. should remember that now instead of asking Israel to release Arab terrorists for Abu Mazen

The first post on this thread is an URBAN LEGEND. Do you know what that means? It means it's NOT REAL.

:trolls:

Gee, I hope I'm not the one that is "trolling" here, all I did was post something, months ago, that was sent to me...cause well personally I don't think I am a "troll", and don't like to be called one.

Karen, I saw no harm by your thread. I found it interesting as well. It is sad that some people here at O-S feel that they have a right to make other people feel bad.

The librarian in me says always check your sources and remember to read all the posts (something I don't always do), so that you don't use a discredited post to make a point.

PS
I've been removed from several family mailing lists because I send the URBAN LEGENDS website link for whatever e-mail that they forward. I always make sure to hit the Reply All button so that their entire e-mail list gets my correction. Cuts down on all the junk and jokes from family members and friends. The two main offenders haven't sent me anything but personal e-mail in more than 2 years.

I believe that Rapunzel676 was referring to joshuathenandnow's post and not toward Karen.

Karen, I'm so sorry, I wasn't referring to your post at all. I know it was an honest mistake. (Haven't all of us fallen for more than a few urban legends? I know I have!) Like Iwannwin said, I was referring to joshuathenandnow's response. I apologize for the misunderstanding and for not making myself clear. :(

This is all straigtened out, I just read into it wrong (either to much medications, or just not enough of the right ones  ). I think that I read it way to quick, and should have realized that I wasn't the one being pinpointed.

Anyway, it is all taken care of.....

:hugs:
