Did anyone find out where the car was actually listed? This is very complicated with lots of room for fraud when you are quickly scanning for the item. I hope ebay bans the scammers forever!!!!

I cannot believe people. Ebay has 10 listings from sellers, selling info about the contest, for 9.99. The lsting looks like it is the contest but if you look closer, in tiny print, it shows it is just a scam.
I feel terrible for people who thought they won paid the 9.99 to be so let down.
Ebay should ban those sellers, and make sure other listings dont get through.
If i had found these ads during my search i would have purshased it.
Why do people have to do things like this. If ebay does not get this under control, they might pull the contest :worry: :worry:

This is my take on it (correct me if I'm wrong).

Each day between 11:00 am and 2 pm ET, there will be a puzzle on the sign in page. After you solve the puzzle, you will get a word to use as a search term to find the prize.

Example today's puzzle was scrambled. The unscrambled word was "Dominos Pizza". Dominos Pizza was the search term.

Each prize will be an Ebay "Buy it Now" item. And each prize will cost $9.99.

Although the puzzle clue will be put out between 11-2, the prize can be won between 11:00 am and 11:00 pm ET.

Anyone want to add to this?

I was on the contest web site at 11:15 EST and did not see a clue until maybe 5 min after that. Do you suppose the car was listed before the clue? That would mean someone definately got it before the clue was even given or am I way out in left field?

I just saw it on another board, didn't find it myself. There's several things that seem fishy about it though. You couldn't have searched "dominos pizza" and got that. Some of the things in the listing seem odd for domino's to have put up, plus are they going to list all of the prizes under "dominos.pizza"?? that would make it a little too easy to find. I don't know. It does seem kind of legit though.

It was listed under "Everything Else" "Other". And the title of the auction is "Get The Door It's Domino's".

So apparantly the clue is NOT the search term, it's only a clue to the search term.

This just in:

Item number: 330069920646
Title: Domino's Pizza Anything Goes

Unfortunately, eBay has removed this Fixed Price listing. All bids or offers on this listing have been canceled. Because the listing was ended, you no longer have any obligation to purchase this item. If the seller chooses to relist the item, you're welcome to bid on it again.

Listings are removed for different reasons. For example:
- The way the item was listed may violate eBay policy.
- The removal may be part of a separate action taken by eBay that is unrelated to the listing itself.

I really don't think there is any way of planning these sweeps better when it comes to eBay because there is ALWAYS going to be opportunists out there that know how to scam individuals. I can remember when they did the Christmas hunt on eBay and it was the same thing going on with sellers scamming trying to get buyers to buy there items thinking they won 1,000.

BEARHUGS65
January 1st, 2007, 3:16pm
WHAT THEY COULD DO is have clues to search for the item with an entry form to put the item number where you find it, those with the correct item number for those entries of the day will be eligible for drawings- too many con artists on ebay and relly it was not prethought out well, this actually cuts out anyone who works during the day and does heavy ebaying on the side and at night

majik
January 1st, 2007, 3:22pm
didn't ebay actually run a promotion similar to this about a year ago? where you had to search for an item and purchase it? that one seemed to work well. why couldn't they repeat what they did then?

carscheles
January 1st, 2007, 3:33pm
Agh! I was going over the rules. This is what it says:

"Each day during the Promotion Period a puzzle (the "Daily Puzzle") will be posted on the anythinggoesdeal.com some time between 10:59 a.m. and 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET). Daily Featured Prize listing pages will be posted on the eBay.com site some time between 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. ET daily."

"Correctly solve the Daily Puzzle. The correct Daily Puzzle answer becomes the Daily Search Term. Enter the Daily Search Term into the search engine on the eBay.com home page to find the Daily Featured Prize".

So we should have been able to put in Dominos Pizza into their search engine and we should have seen the winning listing. BUT - the prize was already gone before they even gave us the clue.

I'm not sure if I suspect the winner had some inside help. Maybe yes/maybe no.

I wouldn't care at this point if the sweepstakes was pulled - from the rules "If the Promotion is terminated before the end date, Sponsor will award all remaining Daily Featured Prizes by conducting a random drawing from among all Promotion registrants." That works for me!

How could someone unscramble the clue, do the search, and enter all their info to complete the transaction in one minute?? The must be the fastest typer on earth-OR-they didn't do the search???

It's is probably outta the sweeps because you have to buy something.

What happened was when you typed in Dominos Pizza at search, it brought up 3 pages of hits. The Lotus was one of them as well as 4 or 5 scams one of which i listed with a Buy Now button. You did not find out it was not the car until After you hit the buy now button.

I just realized they didn't play by their own rules:

The first participant to correctly solve the Daily Puzzle, find a Daily Featured Prize on eBay.com and click on the "Buy It Now" link will be deemed the "Potential Winner," subject to verification.

Daily Featured Prize listing pages will be posted on the eBay.com site some time between 11:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. ET daily.

Now how could someone have won a minute after midnight when a: the clue was not available and b: the prize should NOT have available for nearly 11 more hours and c. you have to use the search term from the clue? :mad2:

The rule say there are 20 Ipod Nanos to give away

(10) Apple iPod Nano 4GB. ARV = $200, each.
(10) Apple iPod Nano 8 GB. ARV = $250, each.

Also, there are 220 prizes in total. So, since the contest runs 36 days or until such time as all available featured prizes are redeemed, it's easy to assume they will give multiple items in one day.

I emailed them.......and I was a lady.

And now I feel like an ass because Ebay just called me.......and I actually won today.

And get this, THEY canceled the auction, not because I complained, but that's what they do, and the payment as far as I know. Hitting the payment button finalizes the deal.

I am so done with this stupid contest. If anybody emails Domino's tell them. "&^%#&)^R##!^&+&^$#%&**((_)^%#@(?"<^$@!!!!!" for me

That's it!!!

I had read here that it had been won when I ran across it, but decided to go ahead and check it out so I bid and then paid. After I did that, I felt really stupid like the people yesterday that got scammed by the guy selling clues (after the car had been won.) I emailed Ebay and told them I thought I had been scammed and complained. Then I complained to Dominos about their stupid game!!! The auction was pulled not long after that. An hour later a woman from Ebay called saying they were aware that I had concerns about being scammed but the auction was the one and the win was legitimate and that Dominos would be calling me.

Here's a good question. Since this is a contest instead of a sweep and we're paying to buy these, wouldn't we only be held accountable for taxes on $10 instead of taxes on a $45,000 car? That's how I would interpret it. Anyone else?

I just found this on here..and already my head is spinning..so for some clarity:

You get a clue a day...to enter a searchword on ebay search.

Once you have found the listing..you have to be the first person to fill out all ebay info..including paypal...payment? because it is listed as buy it now.

Todays search word is ebay seller : 55-countries...

If I keep trying the search they are giving away different items every day?? Or the seller changes tomorrow and the items change.

Todays item was the nano??

Please stop me if I am wrong...this is what i have gotten so far from the listing...but i dont think I have the time or patience for this..lol....Zoe
