Interested in your opinons on some of the worst films you've ever seen. I'm sure I'll forget some but here goes:

Movies we couldn't even finish:

River's Edge (Crispin Glover, Dennis Hopper, ?)
Tucker, A Man and His Car (Jeff Bridges)
The Doors (Val Kilmer, Meg Ryan)
The Game (Michael Douglas, Sean Penn)
Sorry Son, but The Matrix
Sorry Son, but Fight Club

Movies we shouldn't have finished:

Vanilla Sky (Tom Cruise)
Mystery Men (Ben Stiller, Jeanane Garfalo, ?)
Ocean's Eleven (George Clooney) (honestly, I fell asleep and DIDN't finish but family did)
Out of Sight (Clooney and JLo) (I actually love George Clooney)

The Pirate Movie - Christopher Atkins

I couldn't take it, and had to leave the theatre half-way through.

The only movie I have ever walked out on was Rocky - I couldn't take the blood and violence.

However, I have suffered through many more bad movies and felt like I had just thrown my time and money away.

Help me remember this one-a movie with Randy Quaid in it. A family of cannibals-told from the child's point of view and set in U.S. Disgusting-was supposed to be funny, but was not. He plays the father.

The movie was"_Parents_"(will fill in blank when someone tells me answer)

thanks for the answer

I agree with Moulin Rouge. I kept watching thinking this will get better, it has to, everyone said was great. Wrong Wrong.

Add the Blair Witch Project to that list too.

I'm pretty sure the movie that you are talking about is "Parents" Not positve though because I haven't seen it. It is a Randy Quaid movie about a family of cannibals though.

Ok you have all named some pretty bad films but the worst of all:

SLINGBLADE

uhhuh

March 29th, 2003, 8:00pm
The old Ed Wood movie Glen Or Glenda as well as Santa Claus Conquers The Martians. The other day I was watching Mystery Science Theater 3000, and they were showing a movie called "Overdrawn At The Memory Bank" with Raul Julia and that movie was terrible. As for newer movies, Swept Away with Madonna and Crossroads with Britney Spears are terrible.

Okay, what about movies that were great (to you) that you will never forget, no matter how small:

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (Richard Chamberlain and Yvette Mimeux. Saw this after reading the book in high school, touched me for some reason).

The Green Mile.

Shawshank Redemption.

The Horse Whisperer.

And for a silly movie, that I just loved but didn't get it's due:

The Big Lebowski

I will agree that the "Blair Witch Project" was the worst I've seen. And I had such high hopes going in, too.

Also extremely painful to watch is "Time Code" with Salma Hayek & Jeanne Tripplehorn. A very close second. It's like Blair Witch in that it has no script and they are making it up as they go along. It would be good for film students to study for the unique production value, but hugely boring for an audience to watch. Don't waste your time.

Blind Date (Bruce Willis, Kim Bassinger)
Howard the Duck
Pale Rider (could of been my date's fault)

Good, good, good . . .

Mi Familia
Combination Platter
Como agua para chocolate
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Love with the Proper Stranger (saw this one day on television when I was home sick from school . . . I was maybe fifteen . . . fell in love with Steve McQueen . . . was devasted to learn he was dead)

I'm quite sure more will occur to me as soon as I hit "submit reply."

My Own Private Idaho (Kenau Reeves, River Phoenix) horrible doesn't even come close

I've gotta disagree with some of you. I myself completely enjoyed Moulin Rouge. It was really entertaining and unique. Another one I disagree with you all about is the first Blair Witch Project. While it wasn't a fantastic flick, it was very creative and original and I enjoyed that aspect. My picks for worst movies are:

Fantasia(maybe this was because I was very little when we went to see it and I couldn't start laughing when the naked fairies where on and I got spanked BIG time)
Dungeons and Dragons
Copland
Johnny Nuemonic
Cruel Intentions 2
and lastly....Big Top Pee-Wee

My picks for best movies are:

both of the Lord of the Rings films(and Im sure that ROTK will be added to my faves come December)
Forest Gump
Theres Something About Mary
the Star Wars triliogy(NOT the prequels....what a waste of money)
Annie
The Little Mermaid
and my all time favorite and in my opinion one of the best films ever made........Saving Private Ryan

Lots of votes for Vanilla Sky, what gives? Too much thinking required? Not enough car chases and aliens and rap music? No one-liners? Too weird? I don't get it, a great piece of art and commentary. God forbid art should challenge us.

Anyway I dare anyone to name a movie worse than Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Watch it and tell me there is something worse out there.

I believe the sequel to Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is worse than the 1st.

I like alot of the movies people hate, that is what makes America great - people with bad taste.

I'm sorry, but the movie "Signs" just drove me nuts!

I like Mel Gibson movies and all... and the director made a great flick with "The Sixth Sense", but both their stocks went down in my book when this waste of film made it's way into the theaters...

These aliens die when they come into contact with water so what do they do? They decide to invade a planet that has 70% of it's surface covered in the stuff that's what! And they are supposed to be a higher form of intelligence?

Then the aliens make patterns and hide out in corn fields just waiting for the word to attack? If this scenario played out in reality it might go something like this:

Scene: Mel Gibsons cornfield. Nightime. Three Aliens stand amidst the rustling corn discussing invasion plans.

(Alien 1) So the word is we attack tomorrow after we jam all their communication systems".

(Alien 2) "Great... I have a kids birthday party to crash and want to make Jaqolin Phoenix scream like a little girl".

(Alien 3) Whats that sound"?

Scene cuts to Mel Gibson turning on the irrigation system for the cornfield.

(Alien 2) Crap!

I hope M. Knight Whateverhisnameis never makes another movie! :nay:

I couldn't sit through Moulin Rouge. I finally left the room and got on the computer. I never liked Titanic either.

I also hated Eyes Wide Shut. What was that all about?? And Vanilla Sky was pretty bad too.

And a warning: Never rent a movie called Mexico City. OMG, we sat through the whole thing because we couldn't believe it was SOOOO BAD!! Worst piece of dreck I ever saw!

Worst big budget film I've ever seen... Hannibal. Ridley Scott should not be allowed to direct a grade school play, much less a hollywood blockbuster. His early stuff was fine, but Gladiator was pretty bad and Hannibal was downright unwatchable.

Road House!

Is another bad movie. We watched it years ago when it came out on video and my son and husband continue to this day to say that I rented it four times. I'm ashamed I even rented it once. This caught on with my best friend and everytime it's on (which is almost all the time on one channel or another), they tease me about this being my favorite movie of all time. "Dalton" Swayze in his bouffant mullet and Sam Elliot looking like the biggest reprobate that ever walked the earth. THen that scuzzy reprobate dancing with lovely Kelly Lynch in a diner. How often do you see people waltz in your local diner to the jukebox? "It's my way or the highway!"

Eyes Wide Shut was not good but not as bad as Vanilla Sky. Eyes Wide Shut had way too much hype for essentially no story. And American Beauty? This was the BEST we had that year. Didn't want to walk out necessarily but seen better tv movies!

I truly and honestly cannot think of one movie that I absolutely dislike. Some I liked less than others but I enjoy all movies. Of course, I've always had my own little fantasy world and when I watch movies, the movies take a life of their own in my head!!:goofy2: I just read what I wrote and realize that I'm completely nuts. I'm probably in the minority- the worst film I ever PAID to see was that one a few years back with Tom Hanks, stranded on the beach with the soccer ball. I cannot believe I wasted nearly 3 hours of my life, in uncomfortable seats, in a packed theatre. You have to understand I rarely go to see movies- I just don't see the fun in spending $6 per person, then another $10-15 for stale popcorn & a soda. Rather spend it and buy the movie in 2 months when it comes out on DVD.

Can't believe no one has mentioned any John Waters movies (which I love- but I have strange taste).

Now BAD? How about "Solaris"?? Artsy Smartsy, Clooney or not, hated that film.

My brother's best friend collects B movies. I have seen the worst out there. When everyone gets together we have our own version of Mystery Science Theatre. The all time worst was a straight to video horror movie. If you've seen Leprechaun don't miss Leprechaun in the Hood, staring ice cube.

I actually like very few movies and tend to make fun of almost all of them. I get most annoyed with movies like JFK or Nixon that tend to create ficton from non-fiction and treat them as documentaries. There are a few exceptions here: The Killing Fields, Band of Brothers, Titanic...(just kidding!)

I have to say "Coming at You"

Plan 9 from Outer Space
The Exorcist 2 (with Richard Burton)
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Ernest Scared Stupid
(there's so many to list, I'm just naming a few)

I absolutely love "School of Rock" - I can watch that over and over. Very funny.

Someone posted "The Rivers Edge" but I love that movie. I can memorize practically every line. I guess it reminds me of my teenage years or something..

There are so many really bad movies.
There was the last movie david berny did. Can't even remember the name of it. Set on another planet going through turmoil. BLAH!
Blackula anything. The only redeeming factor? So bad you have to laugh.
The 007 film, in In Her Majesty's Secret Service, Just awful. I have never been able to watch that whole film. And I LOVE james bond.
Pitch Black and any film that has graphic blood and gore. If I really wanted to see that crap, I'd have become a butcher.

I read the whole forum to see what everyone else wrote before I decided to put in my 2 cents.

I am SO glad someone put "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" because I asbolutely cannot STAND this movie! Also, another really bad one (it was so bad that we had to own it just to say we own the worst movie of all time) "The Night of the Lupus" ...killer rabbits? Come on people! I might be the only one who can't stand "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" but it scared the hell out of me when I was a kid, and I still get the weird feeling even now.

My favorite movies of all time are listed here, unfortunately, they are a lot of people's most disliked movies too:(.

Eyes Wide Shut
The Shining (the old one, not the stupid remake)
Moulin Rouge (I absolutely LOVE this movie)
Grease I and II
Wizard of Oz
Forest Gump
Shrek
Chicken Run

Response to some comments:

Bad

Hannibal-yes it stunk but so did the book. I was very disappointed in Thomas Harris after reading it. Clarice would never hook up with Hannibal-give me a break!

Leaving Las Vegas-the most depressing movie ever

Clockwork Orange-yuck!

Blair Witch-what was all the hype?

Good

Silence of the Lambs (see Hannibal)-that's how it's done!

I have watched Shawshank Redemption innumerable times. TNT will play it back to back for an entire day.

My DH & I love Dusk to Dawn. I can't really explain it though.

I rarely quit watching a bad movie (like I usually keep reading a bad book). I just can't help myself.

Here are two that are on my bad bad very bad list:

Gothic, with Gabriel Byrne. Now, I LOOOOOOOOOVE Gabriel Byrne and will see anything that he's in. But Gothic is just really bad.

Freddy Got Fingered. This might be the worst movie of all time, seriously.

The Sweetest Thing (with Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate - OMG what a stinker)

I wish I could add this one to my list, but I didn't even make it through 20 minutes of the movie. So, so bad.

Wow, there's no accounting for taste, is there? One man's trash is another's treasure.

I LOVED "Vanilla Sky" and "Moulin Rouge". And I have a very special place in my heart for "Grease 2."

On the other hand, I walked out of "Gladiator."

My WORST:

5. The Wings of a Dove
4. Joe vs. the Volcano
3. That terrible Shelly Long movie where she was a Beverly Hills Scoutmaster
2. Boxing Helena
1. Any movie that starred the dreadful Penelope Ann Miller (but "Gun in Betty Lou's Handbag" most of all).

My BEST:

5. Breakfast at Tiffanys
4. Harold and Maude
3. 9 to 5
2. Donnie Darko
1. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf

I love Donnie Darko, but what was he thinking being Bubble Boy? That movie (Bubble Boy) was puke in my opinion, and so was Biker Boyz with Kid Rock.

And if anybody has seen the movie They Live, I like that movie but there's a painfully long fight scene in it that goes on for ages and you just sit there thinking it will really never end.

Me and the husband rent a lot of old b horror movies and I would name some of those but on the other hand, they are some of the best comedies I've ever seen.

Hannah and her Three Sisters :eek2: -- saw this years ago. It was a film by Woody Allen -- can't stand to watch any of his movies
