I've started having a problem connecting my kids computers to the router. It worked fine for a few months then I started having strange things happen. My browser would open and the address bar would be blinking out of control and then no connection. Charter-despite their high prices doesn't offer home nekwork support. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

No tech support at what they charge- Get a new ISP

Charter changes its ISP address about once every two to four weeks. Most of the time you can reset your router and have it pick up the new address and all works out fine.
Try shutting down all the computers connected to the router, then unplugging both the router and the cable modem for at least 45-60 seconds. Then plug in the modem; allow it to recognize the signal, then plug in the router, and allow it to get all it's indicators going. Start up the computers and see if this solves the problem. This should reset things and make them work to find the new signal. (What operating system are you running?)
Good luck. I've had to do this at least six times in six months.... it can be frustrating! I hope this helps you.
Andrea
PS...
You might also try updating the browser on the kids computer; make sure it's the same version as the one on your main computer.

Glad you got it working. I was going to tell you the same thing that Tartallini told you. I have to do this sometimes also.

Here's a tip I got from a Charter tech one time that has helped me a number of times.....
Open your control panel, open up network connections, right click on your Local Area Connection, click on status, then click on the support tab, then hit the repair button.
If it is an IP recognition problem, this usually seems to fix it without having to reset the modem, but I'm not sure if it will work for your particular problem or not. If it happens again, give it a try.
