CHICAGO -- A 5-year-old Chicago girl who never awoke from her sedation during a visit to the dentist died Wednesday at Children's Memorial Hospital
Family members have said Diamond received a triple dose of sedatives -- an oral agent, an intravenous drug and nitrous oxide gas -- during Saturday's exam at Little Angel Dental, a storefront clinic in the city's Little Village neighborhood.
Diamond went to Little Angel Dental to have two cavities filled and her front and bottom teeth capped

In our small town, we had a three year old die in the dentist chair at the Indian Medical Center a few years ago, from an overdose of sedatives. It never made national news.
It was a horrible tragedy that made me to carefully watch what is done to my kids at the dentist office, AND, I have never taken them to the Indian medical center for dental work.
Such a sad tragedy, I pray for her family.
It disturbs me when the facility is named "Little Angel" and the patient left there as one.

I had a friend's son die after a dentist visit. Came home. Laid down to take a nap and never woke up. Very sad.

That's horrible as is the OP. It scares me because I have been hearing more and more about these cases. I feel sorry for anyone that has a fear of dentists.

I read about that last night. Why the heck with they double the dosage to knock her out if she was only 80 something pounds? GOOD GRIEF!

Dentist's license suspended after girl's death

CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- State regulators have suspended the license of a dentist whose 5-year-old patient fell into a coma in his office and later died.
Dr. Hicham Riba's practices posed an "imminent danger to the public," the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation said Friday. It said Riba failed to properly monitor Diamond Brownridge's blood pressure, pulse and respiration during her treatment Sept. 23 at his storefront clinic
Riba, 40, faces up to $10,000 in fines for each of four violations, which include making false or fraudulent representations, professional incompetence and gross malpractice.
