View Full Version : Are You Tattooed Or Pierced?

Scary Snarky toaD

Enquiring minds want to know! Are you brave enough to tell all?

I have 13 piercings all around my ears -- 6 on one ear, 7 on the other.

And a 2"x2" pink square tattoo on my upper left arm (looks kind of like a Z with two lines through it). It's a symbol for the "17th Century" but I just liked the design.

Pretty tame compared to what most "Rock'n'Rollers" out there have, I'm sure!

:) One of my favorite things in the world to talk about.

I only have my ears pierced twice, but I also have my navel and my nose pierced.

As for tattoos, I have four. I have a small tiger (which will be redone someday) on my right ankle, a large tiger head on my left calf, my kids' names and "birthstone babies" (like those little necklace charms) on my right shoulder. On my lower back, I have an angel surrounded by musical notes. You can actually see my tattoos if ya want here:

I have a tattoo. I got it 6 years ago. It is on my right ankle, on the outside. It's about 5" X 5", pretty big. A very nice red, white, blue and grey one. Hurt like heck...but I am a big girl.

It is a draped American Flag, with a really nicely shaded Celtic Cross on the top of it. It combines my two passions.

My nose used to be pierced but the man kept on holding me down (had to get gainful employment) but they can't take my tattoos away from me!!

Right ankle-small yin-yang, before they were all pop culture and trendy like;

Left hip-tribal for Sagittarius;

Lower back-my husband and I both have matching tats that we got on our first anniversary and it's the Japanese symbol for marriage.:smile3:

I know what you mean joiwind25. Over the years, I've had to remove/hide a few tattoos/piercings for jobs(the jerks!). And all I've got to show for it now is a purple spot on my nose! My dog accidentally "removed" my nipple ring for me years ago...ouch!
I've still got 2 lip rings and a tongue ring, a couple earrings.
3 professional tattoos and 2 itty bitty ones I did myself when I was a kid. All black.
Professional tat's are the eye of Horus on the back of my neck, and each side of an old family coin from Turkey on each shoulder.
Home tat's are a flower(kinda cheesy) and the word HATE( I know, dumb, but what do you expect from a 14 yr. old?!):tongue4:

I got my first tattoo last summer. It is on my back shoulder. It says Harley Davidson in a thorn rose. Quite large for my first. My husband has an awesome tattoo. It would not do it justice to decribe it I will try to do a photo. Oh, yeah double pierced ears and one piercing in the top part of my ear-boy did that hurt.

If they do-count me in.

Otherwise I have my ears pierced twice.

I also once pierced my foot with a nail at the city dump. It's healed.

Once pierced my arm with pencil. You know in vollyball how you bring back your arm behind your backside when serving underhanded? Well, I had put a sharpened pencil in my backpocket facing up and ouch!!!!!

I also have a lovely caesarean scar, so my body has modified itself, no need to pay-mine were free.

Have a rose on my right shoulder that I got when I was in the army, 20 odd years ago! My boyfriend at the time and I went to the tatoo parlor, I kept telling him on the way there "whatever you do DON't get a Michele and Jeff! (he kept asking me to marrying him, I kept avoiding the question!) When we got there I got mine done, then it was his turn, he told me not to watch, he was going to "surprise me, I was like just as long as its not a Michele and Jeff fine. What a surprise, he got the Michele and Jeff!! I felt obligated then to say yes to marry him!!! (I was 18 and stupid!) Needless to say that marriage didn't work, so he got it removed, then marries another Michele spelled the same way as me, with one L!! He should have kept it!! lol!

I think my body has enough holes in it without adding more.

As to tattoos, I have two problems with them on me. My taste has changed over the years and I do not want one I will regret later. The other problem is that if I had a tattoo it would need to be easy for me to see & enjoy. Most easily seen locations are public skin and can effect employment, and people's attitude. If I did get one, I would be an ankle celtic ring.

I do like pierced ears on women. I prefer geometric pattern tattoos, and those with bright colors on other people.

I have both my ears pierced 3 times and I use to have a my tongue pierced but it got to annoying. I am thinking about getting another tattoo for my birthday in April but not sure what it will be yet.

For those people with a stud in their nose have you ever sneezed and almost put out someones eye?

And ladies do those tattoes of butterflys on your breasts turn into caterpillars as you get older?

A man wants to surprise his new bride wendy with a tattoe on his um..lets say manhood..however when its not at attention it only shows the letters WY..they honeymoon on Jamacia and visit a nude beach and the new husband spots a local man with WY also on his manhood so he asks the local if his tattoe also says wendy the local replies " No man, It says "WELCOM TO JAMACIA AND HAVE A NICE DAY."

I have my nose, tongue & ears pierced.... had to take out a couple of others. I have a tattoo of three moons- waxing, full and waning with clouds and stars on my ankle & then a truely gorgeous one on my back that is sorta abstract- took 5 1/2 hours to do... should post a picture of that one, I am proud of it! I designed it with the tattoo artist. When I finish losing my baby weight, in celebration I am going to get an armband that matches my the design on my back. Suprisingly I have only had to take out my eyebrow ring at work.
OUCH! I love my dog now! I can't imagine, my son is going through is biting & nursing stage & I still can't imagine having that ripped out!!!

I got a tattoo almost 2 years ago, after wanting it for 10 years. My dumb a** ex husband didn't let me get one, so what did I do the minute I was sure he was gone?

Drama Masks (I'm in the theatre) on my calf, above my right ankle. My mother just found out and she is MAD but I'm an adult, darn it! :) I think it's very cute.

Add to that two tattoos -- a artistic rendering of a gargoyle on left inner arm; and a mustang on my right ankle to commemorate the first time I went topless. NOT that type of topless! :D I mean a topless car!! My first was a convertible mustang!!

Rgdahl -- those Caesareans count!

I bet I can beat you there, my first was emergency and they did a sagittal cut (up and down), and because the sagittal cut cuts across the muscles they don't allow you to try to have natural births later.

So the next two caeseareans (my boys) were transverse cuts (left to right) -- needless to say, there's no danger anyone will be running around trying to put their eyes out for seeing me in a two piece bikini!

They're ugly but the only scars you get for a GREAT reason!

I've got pierced ears--does that count for anything??
I also got two tatoos in one day at Ruby's Tatoo Parlor in Newport, RI. Got a heart with a banner through it on my left shoulder--- and was smart enough not to put a name in that banner! I also have a long stemmed red rose running from my hip down my derriere. Can you imagine what that rose will look like in another 20 years-- all shrivelled up-- the last Rose of Summer!!!!

Yup! Seahorse on my left hip and a large sun on my lower back.

For anyone thinking of getting a tatoo - HEPATITS C WARNING... I have always checked to make sure that the needles are sterile, but never once thought about checking to see if they reuse the ink. The cups are always plastic and new but has anyone ever seen them thrown away with left over ink in it? Some artists "reuse" the ink in order to save money. If so, you are in great danger of getting Hep C.

I just finished grueling treatment for Hep C and am virus free but just wanted to warn others.

All I have are birthmarks and scars - never felt the need for piercing, and never liked an image so much that I wanted it a permanent part of me.

I have seen some great ink and piercing on people - I have one neighbor who is absolutely stunning. It's just not something I ever wanted to do....

You (all) keep on goin'!

NO TATS OR PIERCINGS HERE BUT HAVE A GOOD TATTOO STORY.

A FREIND OF MINE WENT TO THE MARINES RIGHT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL GOING TO CAMP LEJUNE. AFTER BASIC HE WENT ON HIS FIRST LEAVE AND DECIDED TO GET A TAT. HE GOT A NICE DEVIL DOG USMC TAT ON HIS LEFT ARM HOWEVER BY THE TIME HE WENT BACK TO CAMP HE HAD A SEVERE INFECTION IN THE TAT AND WENT ON SICK CALL. AFTER THE MARINES CURED HIM OF THE INFECTION THEY CHARGED HIM WITH DEFACING GOVERNMENT PROPERTY AND HE SPENT A WEEK IN THE BRIG AND THEN THEY MADE HIM DO BASIC ALL OVER AGAIN. When I was 18 and in the USMC, I won a competitive appointment to the Naval Academy. I had to stay in the Marines for a year, go to prep school for a year, and then 4 years at the academy - a total of six years before I could get married. You can go to the USNA with 2 tattoos, but they could have no color in them, so I got two all black Marine Corps tattoos. A bulldog in a campaign hat with "USMC" above and "First to Fight" below (on my right forearm), and the Marine Corps emblem on my left upper arm.

But I fell in love during the year, and she said she wouldn't wait 5-1/2 years for me to graduate. So I got her name "SONIA" in inch tall letters on my left forearm, asked her to marry me, and turned down the academy. Her middle name was Rose, and before going to Viet Nam I had a rose tattooed on my right arm below the shoulder, with her name above and "One & Only" on a banner accross the stem.

My current wife says her dream is that one day I'll have my first wife's name removed from my arms.

I hope this doesn't sound too indelicate, Lisa, but --

When I had my second transverse, they actually "cut out" the scar tissue from the first one so I have only one transverse and one sagittal scar, not three separate lines.

So -- how do I put this -- I guess I'm trying to say I hope you don't have four big scars -- not that it's bad having four big scars -- but, well, I think you know what I mean.

But anyway, grats on having 4 great kids! [and you have a great glam pic]

I have 4 tattoos: my first is of Winnie the Pooh on back of my left shoulder, my second is an Egyptian ankh on the left side of my lower back, the third is a Grateful Dead dancing bear on my left upper arm, and the fourth is the chinese symbol for J on the back of my neck. I am planning on getting a frog tat later this year on the inside of my left wrist. I also have 3 holes in each ear(used to be 8 in each ear but that got old fast) and I have my left nostril pierced( I had 2 holes in my right nostril as well but they didn't look right so I let them close). I had my tongue pierced for a while and I have been considering doing it again.

As for scars, I have too many to list but I'll share the best ones. I have what looks like a huge upside down cross on my tummy. Thanks to an emergency surgery when I was 2 when they cut open my stomach(for no good reason) and to an emergency c-section when i had my little prince(my son =my angel). I also have a long scar on each of my hips that run from the back of the hip all the way to the front. Then there are the numerous scars from all my "accidents". Why I thought I could skateboard and rollerblade is beyond me. I also have a really cool one on my forehead that is from when I was 8 and I tripped and hit my head on the corner of a cement block and split the skin right open. Talk about blood everywhere. And of course I did this at school on the playground and all the kids saw and thought I was dead. Hehe. Memories. Ahhhh.

Whoa. Sorry for taking up so much space! Can you tell this is one of my favorite subjects? :)

I do have a circular burn scar on my upper left arm. Anyone familiar with The Beach will remember the part where the travelers 'ritually' burned themselves with a hot knifeblade and then rubbed ashes in the wound. Same thing but mine is a perfect circle without ashes- just scar tissue. Hurt like heck!

Always wanted a tattoo, though I am torn between a modified yin-yang design I drew or an angel.

My ears are pierced 4 times on both sides and cartilidge once. I have a tattoo that is a tribal octopus on my lower back. Each leg of the octopus is shaped differently and and each leg represents a member of my family. My two children, my mother, father, husband, 2 brothers and sister. When I was 14, my mom gave me a chinese charm meaning hope. She died of breast cancer 10 years ago...I put the chinese character in the center of the octopus. So, the tattoo represents my family which is connected by hope. I know it seems pretty intense, but I wanted something on my body that I will always feel strongly about.

Also, I love M. C. Escher's work, and I found a site that is giving away a poster of his work. I'm new to Online-Sweepstakes, but assume I go to "Add a New Sweep". Anyway, here's a link for now. http://www.worldofescher.com/

I got my first Tattoo when I was 21 and lost my uhhhmm virginity, of a single rose with the stem going through a heart, it is on my inner right ankle. When I Kicked my first husband out I went the next day with a girlfriend and got a beautiful butterfly tattooed on my upper right shoulder. When my second husband (we weren't married at the time) Had to go back to the UK until our paperwork was finalized and we could be married, we went and got a nipple pierced each, It was one of the most painful things I have done! He went back two days later and got his other one done. While he was away for 6 months and the paper work was being sorted I got my tongue pierced. After the birth of my second child I never put the nipple ring back in, but the tongue ring stays in, my mouth feels naked without it. My ears are pierced and once at the top of my left ear. I guess that's about it for my tats and piercings!:goofy2:

I have three tattoos. . . a rose on my left upper back (for my grandmother. . she's Irish),

a Dreamcatcher on my left upper shoulder for my heritage and my Dad(Amerindian),

and a moon and three stars on my upper right shoulder for my family (I am the moon, the three stars in my sky are my husband and two sons)

And, for my son's 18th Birthday I took him to get his first tattoo, a Celtic cross that he drew himself.

I'm getting another one soon, don't know what it is, haven't found it yet, but know I will be doing it.

I have pierced ears, but nothing else is pierced

Course, if you want to talk SCARS, that's a different story . .

I have one on my neck from surgery, three C-Sections, and a Hysterectomy, one Knee surgery, Gall Bladder, one on my foot from surgery, a round whole in the middle of my calf from falling into a concrete brick (edge on), one on my hand from putting a pencil through it, one on my other hand (treasure hunting . .reached down, found a rusty razor blade!), another knee surgery on the other knee, one between my breasts from a really horrible sunburn (the skin cracked and scarred), and a whole in my side from one of the surgeries when they had to implant a drainage tube.

I think that's all, but I may be forgetting some. . .

My mother pierced my ears when I was three. She was doing hers and figured she might as well do mine while she was at it. :)

I used to have my belly button pierced, but I had some surgery done that created a bunch of scar tissue there, so now I can't get the darn thing in

No tattoos yet, but I've been thinking of getting a tree of life done on my lower back. Just need to find the right drawing.

No effing joke!!!

Bees hate me. I can sit in a room full of fleas and not get bit (guess I taste really bad, lol -- and NO my house is not full of fleas now or ever, lol! Just that they'll bite ANYTHING but me)

Not bees. They have "Toad Radar" and I can be sitting doing NOTHING and they'll fly into my neck or hair.

I particularly did NOT like the bee that had the acumen to bite me right on the end of the nipple! PAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNN that reverberates through your body for hours! (And I do NOT send out Bad Bee radar. I like all bees and try to communicate with them and most insects. (but likely never will move permanently to a place where the African strain are active).

Back to boobs -- those things are Connected to other parts of your body! One of the good things about nursing (NEWBORNS) is that it helps stimulate hormones that speed the uterus into to contract back to it's original size.

No WAY I'd attempt to pierce one of those hummers. & you are ONE Tough Mama to THINK of trying!

I am really NOT trying to keep on the boob subject [this is not induced by Teton-envy here, seriously -- I'd love to could strap mine out of the way half of the time] but have to add that if I were a cool young chick, the one tattoo I would HAVE to have is one I saw of pastel stars, planets and the moon ringing the areola. I think it is BEAUTIFUL, sweet and classy looking.

But that one is best on a young hot chick cause it would drive guys wild.

And I have all the wild guys I need or want in my life! [My two sons!]

I wanted to be tattooed when I was 15 years old and had a design in mind. I told myself if I remember on my twenty fifth birthday go ahead. I did at twenty- five I started with an orchid about 6-7 inches around. The tattooist was a jerk and scared me in the process. Not defeted I still wanted to finsh> I worked with a woman who had a cover-up done and it was amazingly beautiful. I had been carrying around a picture from a tattooist who's work I liked. I assumed he lived a thousand miles away. He was 20 miles away. And I began my year long journey with him. The tattoo was finished when I was 38 years old. Mind you it is considered a very large tatoo and he has won many a ribbon for his work. It is a garland of flowers and wraps around my body and is completed with a Green-wing Macaw. People who dislike tattoos have changed there minds and even considered one for thereselves. So it is up to you to chose your design and if you do change your mind years down the line you can always get a overlay of a new tat above your old one. The difference between Tattoed people and non Tattoed people is the people with the Tatto's don't care if your Tattoed or not. It is a vary personal choice. Alison/

Pardon the spelling. When my son was born the first thing the Dr. told me was We didn't touch your Tattoo. All I cared about was is my son healthy. I am glad they had the forsight. I wondered if that would be the only Green-wing Macaw I would ever own and as of now I am getting our dear baby Green-wing i Macaw in 25 days. I guess all comes to those who beleive and wait. Timing they say. Alison
