Ohio Supreme Court Justice Alice Resnick is above the law as the Toledo Police Department bows down to her greatness.

Arrested for DUI on January 31, 2005, Resnick tried to use her position to talk her way out of operating a motor vehicle at a BAC level of 0.216 (obtained in a field sobriety test. )She then declined to take an official test at the police station, which is against the law in the state of Ohio. Under a new state law, drivers whose blood alcohol content registers over 0.17 who refuse to take the test face mandatory jail time. Her license was suspended for 6 months and she was fined $500.

But Resnick didn't face jail time. She wasn't charged with resisting arrest or failure to comply with an order. She was simply reprimanded.

This past Tuesday, Resnick crossed the center lane of W. Laskey while driving her 2005 Cadillac. (Lic Plate # CD41WR) and hit the car of a 74-year-old Toledo woman.

Toledo police stated that drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the accident, although they didn't even issue a Field Sobriety Test. Instead, they drove Queen Resnick home.

She was cited with failure to control her vehicle. Resnick is expected to step down from her thrown in December.

According to her website, Justice Resnick has addressed many groups in speaking about "ethics and professionalism".

This is what happens when law enforcers are law breakers. Un-equal justice for all.

That's just wrong! Submit this story to Reader's digest - they do a "That's Outrageous!" secction and a lot of the time it's about people in postions of respect & power who are above the law. Is hers an elected position? Work for her opponent!!

Though her DUI was in 2005, she was in another "accident" this past week and the cops in Toledo did not do any FST's. I'm not so sure they would do a test even if smelling alcohol...because of her "position".

She's resigning in December, so I say give her three more months of her hypocritical public "service".

Is the 74-year-old she hit OK? Let's hope they didn't find some pretext to charge HER and I wouldn't doubt they did a Breath-O-Lyzer on her, poor lady. It would sure serve the Queen right if said victim was the Governor's mother or some other position that outranked hers.

It's like the old saying goes...."It's either who you know or who you blow". I know of a 16 year old that got out of a ticket because of WHO her parents were, she was speeding (95 in a 45) and the trooper told her to "have your parents call me". How do I know, I was at their house when the trooper came to talk to her parents and explained why he didn't give her a ticket. Same trooper busted DH for going 49 in a 45....$105 ticket for us. :worry:

Well she was young and didn't know what she was doing... so she just got a "warning" I bet.{{{SARCASM}}}

I know a woman who worked for the school system and had to appear in court numerous occasions for kids who were truant, abuse problems, etc. So she knew some of the judges. She got like 3 speeding tickets, and while in court the judge joked, so did we treat you right? Yeah but I still don't wanna pay for my ticket!... They were friendly, and yes she paid all the tickets.

And to the topic of the thread.

THAT'S OUTRAGEOUS!!! How can a judge do that? Oh wait something like that happened here locally, and the to be judge refused a sobriety test... etc etc nothing happened to him either.
I'd be strongly interested in how this judge treats/treated drunk drivers, or for that fact anyone who had alcohol involved in their crimes, in convictions/sentencing since she herself seems to have a problem with the bottle.
