View Full Version : Why All Toilet Seats Must Remain Down

I know a lot of people are afraid of discussing this subject, but I think we need to be brave.
It boils down to common sense and MATHEMATICS, IMO.
Women need to sit down 100% of the time.
Men need to sit down -- well maybe 25% of the time.
That means (125/200) 62% of the time it will be more efficient to leave the seat down.
And as women CAN'T HELP but ALWAYS leave it in the most efficient position, it is MEN who need to respect the wisdom of mathematics and be good team players.
I think that pretty much says it all.

Toad I'm confused - shouldn't the toilet seat be down and not up?!!! Maybe I'm missing something :smile3:
P.S. Love your attachments - how do you do it?

Men stand up 90% of the time, so the seat should remain up, Unless the female population of the houshold is greater than 5 to 1 average and they don't have their own bathroom.
Men are bright enough to put the seat down when needed, why can't women?
The US Senate passed this bill on this very subject and the presedent said he would sign it if it came accross his desk.:smile3:

Yes, but WE never put it up in the FIRST place, why should we be forced to EVER have to put it back down?
If a man has to put it UP for his convenience, he should be nice enough to RETURN IT for the woman's convenience.

Actually, I think men stand for more of the trips to the bathroom, but in reality, they spend more "time" sitting - Think Back to the last time you got the Sunday paper, or a new magazine (maybe a tool magazine or a car magazine). Hubby takes the whole thing, heads to the bathroom, don't see him for a LLOOONNNNGGG time! :D

I live in Missouri. Most of the men I know here prefer to "go" outside. I don't know what is up with that, but I have seen this happen more times then I can count. You can be at a party here, indoors, and if the weather is nice, you will find the males in attendence stepping outside to "water the lawn". It seems like the men here, (at least the ones I hang around with) would rather walk a hundred yards to pee in the Great Outdoors, then walk 20 feet to an indoor bathroom.
I haven't quite figured this phenomenon out yet. Maybe it is a Missouri thing. Maybe I need to meet some men from other states.

You can argue on both sides. I know how to put a toilet seat down, so it doesn't bother me to have it left up.
However, the principles of Feng Shui tell us that open toilets are energy drains. Put the seat and the lid down.
Of course toilets also harbor germs.

The seat and the lid should be closed when you are done using it.
Besides men can always use the outdoors, a beer can, bathroom sink, etc. if they don't like it.

okay!!! Enough toilet seats and germs. Let's put a cover on the kitchen sink while we at it. If we can believe the TV sales commercials, there are more germs in the kitchen than in the bathroom.

I'm a beer drinker. I suspect that's common among males. That's gonna mean something like 10 seat-up visits to the bathroom for for him to maybe 2 seat-down visits for her. 85% up-usage, vs 15% down-usage.
Common sense says it's more efficient to just leave it the way nature intended it to be - up.
(my former SIL visits and I chew her out when she leaves it up - payback for all the victimized guys out there)

Holy cow, Current -- maybe you need to meet some more sophisticated men or something. If you live in Independence then I live maybe ten miles from you and if some guy left my house to go pee in my yard, all I can say is that he wouldn't be coming back in. I bitch about Missouri a lot, but I ain't going to claim *that* as normal everyday guy behavior.

I don't know, my "hubby" actually gets more upset with my young son if he leaves the toilet seat up or doesn't flush the toilet then I do. And as far as going outside, my husband would rather go outside then inside  and we are Yankees from the East Coast! Go figure

recived this in an email and since it's bathroom related, I thought I'd post it here.....
Q. How many men does it take to change a roll of toilet paper?
A. We don't know; it has never happened.

I grew up in a house where men outnumbered women 5 to 2.
So I always left seat up..Which caused a problem when I went to a cabin with a girlfriend of mine and her family where woman out numbered the men 6 to 1..They had an out house I used it late at night and left the seat up..about 2 AM we heard my girlfriends mother scream as she fell into the hole...I always leave the seat down now when ever women are around that don't have the sense to look before they sit.

I live in Independence. There aren't many sophisticated men here. (Just kidding!) I love living here, but to tell the truth, I wanna move to the Ozarks, preferably down by the Current River.
Whoohoo!! Ten miles away? We need to meet for lunch sometime!

the seat is common sense. You put it where you need it. The lid is what everyone needs to be putting down when done. Unless you are on vacation and have a dog or cat that may need a little extra water:D .

Being outnumbered in my household, 5 males to 1 female (me), I try to always leave the seat up. It isn't so much the inconvenience of putting the seat down that's the problem. It's the little ones being too sleepy or lazy to put the seat up and getting it all wet!. It's worth the little extra effort on my part to put the seat up!
