We're a full two months from Halloween and as much as I"m excited about this contest, I REALLY don't mind getting stuff in OCTOBER, lol. Seems like it is MOST fun when we all get our stuff around the same time so we can share pretty much together within a couple weeks of each other. But to have some folks getting stuff two months before everyone else? I'd HATE to get all my Christmas gifts sent to me before Halloween (as a for instance.).

SLOW DOWN, everybody, lol, so the rest of us who get boxes in October don't feel left out to have to "wait" so long.

THat's my :twocents: of course. Everybody do what blows your hair back, but to my Swap Buddy, I say, "PLEASE FEEL FREE TO NOT SEND BEFORE OCTOBER." :laugh: :laugh:

Exactly! And people are still signing up to particpate in the swap. I know I posted this yesterday, but I believe August is WAY too early to start sending things for a LATE October swap. Barring exceptional circumstances, I hope that I do not receive my package before fall.

Let me add a note here. When all of us heard about someone sending out packages early, my thought was that others might feel guilty if they DIDN'T rush out and send stuff this week as well.

Then we could have half of us getting stuff 6 weeks before the other half, essentially, and it's not that that would be BAD, it's only that some of the "shared" experience -- (part of the whole swap idea in the first place) might be diluted somewhat. That's the only reason most of us think in terms of sending stuff to our buddies all around at the same time frame.

In the case of this swapper, time and travel constraints made it better to send out now. If timing works out better for some of us to send a little early, no one can be hurt by that. I think with my big mouth I made this very sweet OLSer feel bad, and I apologize heartily for that. He/she worried that they had "wrecked" the swap for everyone else by sending early.

I would like to add to this as well. I, by no means meant to make anyone feel bad. I do understand, as well, that the swap participant needed to send the box out early. I think that is great. That way the swap buddy will be sure to get their package. That is why I made note in my prior post of exceptional circumstances. I think this definitely qualifies.

I agree that it is up to each person when they can send their box. However, as toad points out, part of this experience is the shared opening, etc. And with some receiving their packages early, some of the sharing is gone. Also, some people feel pressure to send their package out sooner than they can.

This probably has more to do with my brain not in the time frame of fall yet. Call it denial if you want :nana:

i have no problem getting my halloween swap early...i love swapping...getting and sending...not everyone is participating in all the swaps going on here..so maybe this was the only one they were in and was excited about sending it to their partner.. :halo:

You know I am one of the most Blessed people right now. I wasnt able to stay in the Swap this time because of some finacial problems and I felt so bad about it. Well, it seems like the "Swap Fairy" who is my personal hero sent me a box full of the most wonderful fall things
A beautiful handmade purse..absolutley stunning and I just love it
A little acorn girl shelf setter ( adorable)
A set of 3 terre cotta pumpkin voltives with the most heavenly smelling candles
A metal wall pocket shaped like a pumpkin
A handmade Halloween kitchen towel that I already have on my stove
A bag of Spiced Pumpkin Potpourri ( put it in my metal pumpkin)
A pumpkin pop pencil ( that makes me smile)
And last two large throw rugs with pumpkins on them ( i just love them)
All of this came wrapped in beautiful fall colored paper tied with raffia bows.

Before I read on I gotta applaud you toaD for sending out this appology! When I read all the negative posts after the initial (I sent mine already) post I felt SO bad for the poster.

As for me, I'm just plain excited, I don't care when it comes!! I'm just appreicative of getting nice thoughtful gifts from a person I don't know!!!

and 6 Reese's fast Break candy bars ( Yum, and thank you for only sending 6, lol, I am trying so hard to lose weight so this is perfect :laugh: )

They came all individually wrapped in pretty orange foil paper with fall colored leaves strewn throughout box, so nice.

Thanks, msbabedoll. This situation just proves how easy it is for something to start looking like a bonfire starting, even if everyone means well, lol! I mean, if the point is to have fun, fussing over details here and there is ridiculous.

We have such a good group of people here. It's rare with the craziness of the internet that there's actually a PLACE most of us can feel safe to say what we really feel. And the only way that works is when everyone works hard to be careful and not tread others' feelings. I agree, eyz, I'm having SO much fun thinking of ways I want my bud's eyes to twinkle when they open up the box. This is the most fun I've had with a swap, just planning it. Maybe we're all going overboard but it's a fun overboard-going, and as long as what you put IN the box tickles YOU, you can pretty much be sure the recipient WILL share the fun. Only real sourpusses would be "bah humbug" about what was sent, and it is the RARE sourpuss who enters a swap like this. Most of us are pretty tickled with the comaraderie we get from this whole affair here, so I don't think you have to worry about anyone not liking what you send. :laugh: :laugh:

I got it!!!! Thank you so much keyb816!! I don't normally get all excited about decorations, but what you sent was the best! I stopped home quick on my lunch today and sitting by the front door was a blue tote all taped up. I thought one of the kids had been outside with a tote yesterday and left it out there. But NO!! It was a package sent to me via UPS from keyb816. It is full of Halloween/Fall decorations. There is a stuffed scarecrow decoration, a witches checklist hanging decoration, a whole bunch of tea lights to into the three pumpkin decorations and witches hat decoration that all hold tea lights. I love them!!! There is a tin moon and owl hanging decoration and some gourmet flavored candy corn and taffy. Oh yeah, I had to take to work and hang on my door the "the witch is in/out" sign. I can't express how much I like it all. I don't normally decorate for Halloween inside, because I forget or don't have the time. Not anymore. I am decorating tonight and the tote will be great to pack it all back up in after Halloween is over. Thanks so much!!!! :cheer7: :jump: :cheer7:

Oh sorry I didn't know we were supposed to post. I got Michigan mustard, and Peez candies, which my girls ate immediately. I am saving mine for a special day. I got a lovely
sented candle and some pumpkin butter, which I can't wait to try on my morning toast.
I got yummy candy corn which I couldn't save for a special day, and half the bag well maybe almost half is gone already. It's been so long since I've had that kind of candy. Thanks, and some autum leave stickers, which look pretty real to me.
And I have never tried it, but I get to now try some apple cider, cause that's what they
have in Michigan in the Autum. I bet it's beautiful there, especially when the leaves change color and the weather gets a little nippy.

I forgot to tell maddgiggler that my brother lives in SouthBend Indiana, not sure how far away that is, and his in laws live in Coldwater Michigan. I visited both places before, but
during the spring when the temps were like 30 and I forze my butt. I know it ain't nothing
really to what you get, but for girl born and raised in Hawaii, anything below 70 is cold.

I got my box of goodies yesterday from Tiffnat.
I received a very cute card, a pair of socks with a little black cat on them, Halloween ponytail holders and headbands a big thing of glowsticks, a pumpkin pie candle, a Wolf head, a spooky menu decoration and my son's each received a bag of goodies!!
I gave my kid's them before school this morning and they were so excited. My youngest made me pack his lunch just for he could take the fruit snacks you sent . Thanks so much for everything!

or maybe you can get someone else to pm them, i know i did a swap for another board and my pal got it on wed and still has not posted, it gets me thing maybe they missed delievered it or maybe someone took it off the porch or something, that is one reason i dont have things coming to my house, in fear my negibors would take it. i always give both my po box address and home address just in case someone sends it ups or fed ex, but it is easiers for me to go to the po box and recieve it there.

so go ahead and someone pm her. maybe they did not know the thread was here, lets hope that is it. :)

My swap buddy was grandmap and I have to say THANK YOU!!! I am sooo sorry I havent posted yet. It's been so hectic here, then I couldn't find the thread and I could go on and on.
I got so many wonderful things! The beautiful gold earrings are totally perfect and Kat has claimed them LOL! She literally wont take them off. The perfect silver bracelette with such pretty designs has been claimed by her too(she calls it her new fancy bracelett lol!)
Then there were toothbrushes for me and Kat and tooth paste(I was having such a bad day , another dentist problem when I got this swap and I just LOL when I saw those!!!) You made me feel so much better and Kat absolutely loved hers too!!(She loves toothbrushes, Ive always been a fanatic about them and Kat has about 14 or so now lol)
Then the sweet little puppy calender and note cards, note papers ,cute colored envies and cute lil scented pencils are adorable!!!Just so many cute and adorable things. Both Kat and I thank you for such a wonderful swap!!

WoW after reading the first page or two on this thread, I felt really bad about sending my buddy's package so early!!! I sent it out early because money is tight and I wanted to buy and send while I had some extra cash. I did not send out much, I did all I could afford... so if I come across some extra cash, I will most likely send a few more things.

I was having a lousy day Thursday (neighbors). I finally made it out after 4:30 p.m. to run errands - Bank, P.O., DG to buy wrapping materials for my swap buddy's package, got Milo's nails cut (my legs are all scratched up - he's so happy to see me whenever I come in the door). When I got back home there was a box at my back door, from GODIVA!!! There's nothing like chocolate to brighten a day, especially good chocolate. :)


My Swap Buddy sent me a box of 18 Assorted Godiva Truffles with a Pretty Autumn-Colored Ribbon on Top!!!


I haven't been on here at OLS since early Thursday. I've been feeling unwell for a week, and finally went to the ER last night. Believe it or not, I didn't open the box until just now, :halo: and

A confession: My swap buddy had mentioned in a post that she liked a certain candy, so I happened to see it when I was out shopping last week. So I picked some up....well over the weekend hubby and kids had me all stressed out and I made hubby take the kids and go somewhere so I could get some things done and all I could think about was chocolate. Well your chocolate was all I had in the house ( Gasp! No chocolate in the house! :worry: ) so.... I ate it. And let me tell you ...... I now know why you like it!! I had never had it before. Sooooo I will be going to get you some more and some for myself. So thanks to my buddy I now found a new chocolate to enjoy!! :)

WoW after reading the first page or two on this thread, I felt really bad about sending my buddy's package so early!!! I sent it out early because money is tight and I wanted to buy and send while I had some extra cash. I did not send out much, I did all I could afford... so if I come across some extra cash, I will most likely send a few more things.

I forgot to put in a card letting my buddy know who I was, and she has not posted that she received it as of yet (I checked the package on www.usps.com and it said the package was delivered), so if your initials are JH and you live in Illinois.... surprise!!! I am your secret buddy!!!! hehehe, I hope you liked everything, and I also included some stuff for the kids too :) Like I said, it isnt much, but its the best I can do for right now. I had a blast shopping for my buddy, and after reading these posts, Im even more excited to receive MY swap gift!! Yeah! My box arrived today! My buddy was JelloSheriff!

It came with my year long swap buddy's box so it was a double treat! I got a great box of Halloween stuff!

I got some light up Halloween window decorations, a beautiful tabletop decoration, a gorgeous pumpkin bowl and a bag of Halloween M&Ms that I put inside. (The girls and I have eaten half already! ), some stickers, some socks and a cute headband! What a great surprise! I'm all set for Halloween now!

I haven't been following the thread too closely, but wanted to say that I'll be working on all of my Halloween giftboxes this weekend - and hope to have them out early next week. I'll probably use Fedex ground - it's cheaper for anything over two pounds ;)

I had everything ready for my swap buddy, but the past week was crazy. My mom was in the hospital all week and I've had an ear infection for over a week. The package will be mailed Monday via Priority Mail so it will be delivered soon. :gvibes:

1. Two big black plastic bowls with spider webs on them...wonderful for this chips !

2. Two black light bulbs...can never have enough of these !

4. A very cute witch candle holder...I'll find a great place for this !

5. One black and one orange pack of streamers...I'll have fun decorating with these!

Well, my buddy hasn't been responding to this thread or the other wish list one so not sure she/he will see this, but I will be sending box out in next couple of days. I tried to make it really nice and hope it will be enjoyed even though losing my job 4 weeks ago did curtail my budget more than I'd hoped. But what I'll be sending will be sent with big hugs and hopes for a great Autumn/Halloween season! Will be using a delivery confirmation to ensure delivery.

Hmmmm I just got a call from a floral delivery service. I am getting a delivery today. I have a sneaky feeling it may be from my swap buddy. I am SO excited.

If this is indeed my swap buddy, I am so so sorry about the address mishap. They did have my correct address, but still couldnt find me :worry: I had to tell him all the landmarks within a 5 mile radius, and he said it would be here today. Delivery drivers seem to have trouble finding me. I use my work address because I am here all day every week day (Whats the chances they would try to deliver on a Sunday. LOL.


Anyways, I am SO Excited to get whatever this is, I keep looking out my window at work. Hee hee
