Portland/Vancouver is Flooding!!!

It has rained about 2" since this morning and several small rivers are flooding. There is flooding 100 miles North, South, East, and West. Don't know if this is on the national news. They have been sand bagging, and all day the flooding coverage was about all that was on TV.

I hope the other local sweepers are high and dry.

Pretty soggy here, too. Could be a repeat of '96...remember? We even got CNN's attention back then. I'm sitting high (not dry) in the foothills. We just moved in here...hmmm, there are some homes perched on cliffs right above us, and what's below is extremely flood-prone.

My whole family is in Portland/Vancouver~~

I remember the big flood, I still have the newspaper with the front page showing all the pictures, it was awful~~

(do you remember the Oregon Journal?)

Oooh I am home-sick~~
I miss the West coast gone almost 18 months now~~Boo-hoo~~
I miss Seaside, Mt. Hood~~the Gorge~~Wahhh~~~My family, friends~~:( :( Sob-sob~~

My wish for today is to win some money to fly home with the kids or free airline tickets~~gotta remember to pray to the sweeper goddess tonight, after I get thru all these interesting posts tonight!~

My husband's family is from Portland & his mom is sick so we are going there next weekend :(

They live in Tualatin....does anybody know about that area?

I'm high and dry. I could only be flooded if all of downtown was flooded to the 20th floor or so.

The flooding should be over tomorrow afternoon. The last flood in '96 was due to lots of snow, freezing rain, a quick warm up, and lots of rain, then a windstorm. Portland can be so nice!

The weather this winter has been mostly dry and warm. There is not much snow on Mt Hood. No snow in Portland this winter yet. Most of the flooding is in the usual flood zones of the smaller rivers. The Willamette and Columbia are brown with flood waters but they are not close to flooding.
