View Full Version : How formal are we talking here?

The letter from the convention folks says that the final night banquet is a formal dealio. Of course they said the same last year, but it seems they might "mean" it more now.
So glamourpusses, how done up are we going? Need to know if I should pack one or two boas...

You should pack three boas plus an extra one.
Does the letter say the same thing as on the convention website under FAQs about what to wear?

(Scroll to bottom.)
Business casual for some IS dressing up! I heard rumors that both risavjl and kbsocial are planning on wearing their wedding dresses. Maybe you could use tig as a guideline from last year??? :smile9:
Now, "formal" for you, missy, means no cussing and no panties on the head!...or the least you could do this time 'round is wear clean underwear!

Yup, what's posted on the site is the same as what's in the letter.
Man, first they tell me I can't wear tee shirts with offensive pictures or slogans and now you're telling me I can't cuss and have to wear clean underwear.
What's next, no spitting?

Panda, that's funny! When I read about the FoRmAL fOrMaL dress required for the banquet I immediately thought of my wedding dress!!! LMAO I'll put it back into action right away!
Know what would be boss? Everyone wears a wedding dress, or bridesmaid-type dress. Brent, Ked, we'd love to see you in tuxes!! :cool2:

Then I should wear the tutu but probably not the combat boots, huh? Is a halter top formal?

I'm still perplexed about what to wear. I'm a sneakers and t-shirt kinda person. Maybe I'll just wear those.

Yeah Joanne, I am too. I pulled a black dress out of my closet and am going to wear that. It's plain boring black with a jacket, but lightweight so it won't be too hot. Of course I am going to dress it up with my stripper platforms and some jewelry...

I have a pair of black crepe pants with a short-sleeve black/gold/brown top that I usually take on cruises for formal night, so that's what I'm taking to the convention. It sounds dressier than it is, but it's comfortable and that's the main thing.
Still looking for the perfect formal pair of panties to wear on my head. :smile9:

I was going through my closet the other night trying to find something "formal" to wear. I actually did pull out a purple boa (don't ask ) and asked my husband if I should add it to my black dress. Maybe I should pack it... :sherlock:

The only possible thing I own is more winter weight, but I figure with A/C I might get by. Then again feathers and pasties might do the trick. Need a lot of feathers though.

I'm reading this thread just cracking up. Brent's idea of formal is a pair of nice shorts, tee shirt (not tucked in) and his famous sneakers with the yellow stains (that's another story all together). If Brent actually dresses up I will be beside myself! :rofl3:

Q. What should I wear?
A. Banquet Dinner: This is a formal event. The term Black Tie Invited or Black Tie optional are interchangeable and mean to imply that this is a formal event - just as an evening on a cruise or attending a wedding. Consider suits and tie, or the optional tuxedo if you would like. Women wear cocktail, long dresses or dressy evening separates. This is meant as a guideline and not a requirement. Please wear what you are comfortable wearing.
See? It's optional.
And as long as it's optional, I'd rather not wear long pants in 110 degree heat if I don't have to. I wore a collared shirt, tucked in, and I left the yellow shoes at home.
What more could you want? :goofy:

I got dressed up in a cute little black dress. When I went to put my pumps on I discovered they had melted along the side. :goofy3: So I wore another sun dress with leather sandals.
Yes I was very comfortable, a little frazzled but comfortable.
