At the 2005 convention the "talk" was that San Francisco, Atlanta and possibly Dallas area groups were looking into hosting a 2008 or 2009 convention - so ya never know :cool2:

To have the convention in Houston 1st you must get a sweeps club in Houston to make a bid to host the convention. This is done 2 years in advance, at the sweeps convention itself with convention attendees voting on who gets it. It takes alot of planning & the main problem now with picking places for the convention is room. most cities do NOT have a convention space that is large enough to hold the numbers of people at tables, & still near a hotel that is large enough.

How about Atlantic City, NJ. We have a great convention center, a great Outlet Center and the ocean and boardwalks, not to mention casinos. All within a 2 block radius!!!

Same deal applies as to what sweeps_aku said - there has to be a sweep club in the area that will come to convention and put in a bid to host it and then be willing to take on the huge task of organizing it - so if you have an AC sweep club - get them on board and to the next convention to bid:)

Is there a Houston sweep club? Sorry I know this is off topic, but how do you know if you have a sweep club or not?

A thread about a Northeast mini convention in 2006 in the Fall. Not sure how far this is from you though.

Thanks...I hadn't seen that post. It's still quite a haul though from Maine to Pennsylvania. I'll check it out though...wish the National would come up this way.

It would be nice to see the national in upstate Jersey or the Yonkers area or something just outside the city. Where we could make day sightseeing trips into the city. :smile9:
