View Full Version : Why do I keep getting a blank green page in the sweepstakes directory?

There's an issue with most versions of Netscape 4.x that can cause some of the web pages in the sweeps directory to not display properly (giving you a blank green screen).

I will be able to completely fix the problem once we move to a dedicated server sometime in January. Until then, users of Netscape 4.x (pc & mac) will sometimes get the blank screen when accessing most of the pages in the sweeps directory.

However, I've come up with a temporary workaround that, for the most part, fixes the problem for all the "What's New" and "Expires Soon" pages (you may still get the ocassional blank screen, but reloading those pages should give you a good page). The home page, the forums, MySweeps, the search page, and Add-a-Sweep page do not have this problem. But all of the other pages in the sweeps directory do.

The best thing you can do if you have Netscape 4.x (less that 2% of our visitors) is upgrade your browser. The browser that will always (for the forseeable future) work best for this site (and most web sites for that matter) is the latest version of Internet Explorer. Why? Because all the different browsers do things a little bit differently and more people use IE than any other browser- by far.

The latest versions of Netscape 7.x and Mozilla 1.x are the best alternatives if you can't/won't use IE for some reason. Opera should work OK for the most part.

The only way that you can be absolutely sure that all of the features on this site will work 100% correctly all of the time is to get the latest version of IE.
