Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things. Each year the staff at Beloit College in Wisconsin puts together a list to try to give the faculty a sense of the mindset of this year's incoming freshmen. Here's this year's list:

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1983.

They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic!

The CD was introduced the year they were born.

They have always had an answering machine.

They have always had cable.

They cannot fathom not having a remote control.

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel", or "de plane Boss, de plane".

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is.

Michael Jackson has always been white.

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.

Pretty sad huh?

Katie :) <-- feeling mighty old now! LOL

Katie, That had me LMAO! In 1972 I did indeed have hair down to my a**! I was a freshman in high school and we had a sit in to allow the guys to wear long hair too! In the last couple of years my hair started thinning. I guess that happens..I laughed all through that one! That was just about right!

Yikes - Now I really feel my age (as I sit here thinking about how stiff my back feels) I can remember when tv remotes first started in our area. The only way to get one was if you subscribed to cable tv - which included about 5 or 6 more channels than the original 4 or 5 you would normally get without cable.
I can also remember when "aids" were actually a diet aide. remember those - sorta chocolate type things you ate that supposedly supressed your appetite?
And popcorn! Boy oh boy, we used to get excited if we broke down and bought Jiffy Pop - instead of the oil and kernels in the bottom of a kettle. I always hated the kettle thing, I'd end up burning half of the stuff, and had to toss the whole pot!

I could continue, but I'm feeling older by the second....

lol - a couple of years ago my daughter had show and tell and I sent in a record album. The kids were nuts trying to figure out how it fit in a CD player. My kids think because we didn't have cable, CD's, computers, etc, that we lived like Little House on the Prairie. lol
