I need some help here. I have a child going to college in the area. She can't drive her car home for Christmas as it is a 1500 mile drive, takes 23 hours, and the car is really too old to make the trip too often. Her friends all live 3 hours or more out of the area so driving it to their house and then getting back to school is complicated. Airport parking isn't an option for a month. I would be willing to pay someone in the area to "rent" driveway space for the month she is gone. She can't leave it on the college parking lot. No oil leaks or anything. anyone have any ideas? thought about storarge but anything big enough for a car was way too expensive. Right now I'm willing to check out any options. Thanks.

Thanks ThriftyMom. I like your name. My daughter says I have ruined her life. She can't go shopping with her friends and buy anything at regular price because she has a thrifty mom (although she refers to me as cheap) and full price just seems so wrong unless you have to have the item right now like a book for school. I hope she remembers this when she is making bookoo bucks after college.

Hi, I do live in Greensboro but unfortunately in an apartment. If I had a driveway I'd be more than happy to have her leave her car. You might want to bump this up later to make sure everyone sees it. I know we have a lot of North Carolinians so maybe someone can help. I hope so! I can't believe the school won't let her leave her car, but I guess they can't be responsible if anything should happen. Good luck!

I live in Apex, otherwise I'd be happy to provide a parking space. I'm sure something will come up!

Bumping this up as we are still looking for a solution. College requires all cars be moved to "outside parking area" (which is really street parking, not a lot) so not very safe - no lights, not patrolled regularly, etc. Can anyone help here?

I have a suggestion for you. Around our area we have a lot of public storage facilities that include fenced areas for boats and campers. If there is one close to her you might call and ask about storing her car there for a month. That might be the solution.

Seems like you have a lot of good ideas Txsweeper. The boat storage is a great idea. I'll have her take a look tomorrow.
