View Full Version : Can you enter Sweepstakes if you are using a firewall ?

Does anyone know for sure if sweeps entries submitted behind a firewall are actually entered????

Not using a firewall here, so I was waiting for some who does to comment.

If you receive a confirmation email, as some contests send out, then you can be pretty sure that in that particular case...you're in there. And that would be "proof" that, unless the website is particularly firewall-phobic, your entries would generally be "receivable."

My understanding of firewalls is that they are more oriented towards incoming data vs. outgoing stuff. If you cannot navigate around in a given site, or if the "thank you" page never comes up, that might be a clue. Some sites will also call out any firewall issues they know they have.

Once I get my router working, and start surfing from behind one, I'll be able to comment from experience...

to be honest with you it shouldnt matter the firewall has it options and if you see that the firewall doesnt let you GIVE out ingo (not likely) then you can turn it off for the hour or less that you sweep then turn it back on ...

but once again it is very unlikely that a firewall would be involved with limitations if it does check the configuration...
