snip---
the installation of its iWonPlus subscriber package installs a malicious, hidden Trojan program that sends data to the iWon servers long after you've followed directions to uninstall the program.

Thanks for the head's up to this article. I deleted the IWon prize machine a while back and haven't installed their latest "package".

Haven't noticed the firewall allowing any unknown connections "out", but I am going to look around for this aornum.exe or ornum just to see if it shows up on my machine.

Hate to think that all my sweeping activity is being spied on! :smile3:

Even after I uninstalled all the IWON stuff with AdAware and also from Add/Remove programs, there was still an Aornum folder in Program Files - it took me a while to figure out what in the world it was. As soon as I did, I simply deleted the folder with all the files in it, and it was fine.

I also use RegCleaner and that helps to remove registry files of programs no longer being used.

I installed spybot but it's not quite as user-friendly as AdAware. It found stuff that I wouldn't necessarily consider "malicious," just perhaps openings in programs that could be used if someone really wanted to.
