View Full Version : Whats the average time you spend entering sweeps and how many do you enter each day?

I spend on average about 1 hour per day sweeping, as you call it. I would benefit from a high-speed connection, but I use dial-up. The difference in cost is simply not worth it to me.

My browser of choice for sweeping is IE 5.0 because of the autofil feature, which works great. I would try Roboform but I use a Macintosh; it's incompatible with my Powerbook. The autofil really is the next best thing.

Any other Mac users here?

We have a few Mac users and I am sure they will join in. I started out with dial-up but changed to a local cable ISP because their rates were just not that much higher than the dial up ISP. I don't know how I lived without the high speed connection . I enter lots of dailys and it took hours with dial up. But hey if you are happy thats all that counts.

Until I get up...oh you said "sweep!!!" :smile3:

Well I think an easier form of that question is how many sweeps do you enter in a day? Here's why:

As Dee Dee mentioned, there is a big difference in speed between dial-up and DSL. If I was sweeping with a dial up I'd be on here from dawn to dusk just to get my daily sweeps in. With DSL it takes about three hours total.

So the time factor really does depend on connection speed I would think.

The difference between the price of a cable connection and a dial-up, at least in my area, is only about $10. With that extra $10 per month, I end up saving so many hours worth of time that it would probably be worth $50, maybe even more.

I won't even tell you how many hours a day I spend on sweeps. :)

About two hours. Today it only took 50 minutes. Hmm...
Oh! I know why! Because the tv isn't on in the background. LOL!
I have cable and I love it!! I have 62 dailies.

First thing I go to EzSweeps.com and the auto sweeps enter me in about 40 sweeps. Then I pick a few more there, and enter my mother using her screen name in about 45 sweeps. I carefully read the rules now to be sure I won't disqualify us with double entries at the same home address.

Then I come here, and do about 45 daily entries, some new single sweeps, my weeklies on Monday, monthlies on the first of the month. This means I average about 100 per day for myself, and 50 per day for my mother. Shouldn't I win something eventually? I've been doing this since September.

How many a day do you average?

Hi Bot Girl,

I feel a special kinship with you because you're a Mac user like me, and a new sweeper, too. I haven't won anything, and you don't sound any richer.

I see you use Auto fil. Me too. I also use a Powerbook. A DSL line would be nice, but I see you use a dial-up, just like me.

I'm getting a bit weirded out. Can it be we are posting here from an alternate universe? Are you made of anti-matter?

Your doppelganger,

Another post from the alternate universe of Mac users! I am also on the Mac, but using DSL. It makes my life much easier--keeps sweeping down to an hour or so a day. (At least until I met that wretched little time waster, Buddy Lee. Add 20 minutes for him. And tell him to send me some socks or something.)

Autofill is not a bad option, but I keep hoping Roboform is serious about finding someone to migrate their software to a Mac platform. I'll keep checking their website every month or so, just in case. And if I hear they've done it, I'll be the first one to post the update here! :)

I was only teasing Bot Girl up there. Luckily, I know her well; she has a good sense of humor. Actually, Bot Girl was my screen name before I changed it, so she only exists in an alternate universe.

Several of us have written to the company that produces Roboform, and they need a certain minimum of interest to move the program to the Mac. The best thing to do is to write to them and express your interest and urge them to hire a programmer to recode the software.

I spend maybe 1-2 hours a day right now----
I do EzSweeps.com and Huronline.com but I spend a vast majority of my time here because no matter what each day there are new contests! Everyday!
Also the boards are easy to use and the people are very nice.
I also use this site for my instant wins as well as a site called
myinstantwin.com.

I use Roboform exclusively.
Have a great sweepin day!

I usually check my email and do my daily 100 entries for IWON at
5:00AM- before work. (I know -I am nuts!) I try to keep it under 15 minutes. Then after work, I usually enter my daily sweeps for
a hour or two Then after supper or before bed, I check the "new for today" ones. (I tried to do that earlier in the day and new ones would be added and I'd forget where I left off) So, now I just do that last thing before bed.
Re DSL vs. dialup- We used to have one phone company for local phone service. Then a new company came thru (AT&T) with local service. They put up all new fiber optic phone lines and I signed up. Since I have brand new phone lines into the house and
recently checked and updated interior phone lines---I have no problems with dial up. We have DSL at work and I honestly don't see a difference. Now, granted when I download a huge file that takes an hour or so, then I wish I had a faster connection, but that only happens maybe three times a year.
If I hit the lottery and have lots of money, I'l go with the DirectTV
satellite connection. Since it goes through the air with absolutely no lines-it blazes. But it costs an arm and a leg. I already have the dish, but the internet is $60.00 a month!!!

I have dial up. Just goes fast with Gator and having them well organized in my fav places. I spend about half an hour each day looking for new entries, entering weekly sweeps etc. On average I'd say I enter about 100-150 contests a day. Goodies keep piling up. Helps a lot at Christmas time. Have gifts to give even though I'm broke. Good luck!

When I just started sweeping this past spring I would be online (dial-up) for 5 hours entering sweeps. Well, the kids and the house didn't like that and after a awhile I cut it down WAY DOWN...I only enter sweeps I really want to win...I only put one entry in even if it is a daily...I probably now only spend about an hour a day TOPS....sometimes less. MY wins have still been pretty good...actually just as good as when I was doing 5 hours a day. I like the feeling of winning even more now, since it wasn't too much of an effort.

maybe 15-30 minutes a day maybe 5 days a week

I enter maybe 50 per day

I use DSL on a Wintel PC with RoboForm

I only use this site and enter whatever interests me that's new in the "what's new" section for the day (and the previous day if I missed it)

For dailies I only enter the cash and car categories

I have noticed several posts from people here saying you enter sweeps for 3 hours a day, or 5 hours a day, or whatever. Are these all online sweeps, or snail mail ones, too? How much time do most of you spend on it?

Just wondering, because I get done entering my sweeps in 30 minutes to an hour a day (with help from Roboform), and even when I feel like entering more I can't find more to enter! Right now I'm itching to enter more, and I keep going through the lists of sweeps looking for any I've overlooked, but can't find anything else to enter. But to be fair, the first day I came here, I spent about *10 hours* entering sweeps, and the day after that maybe another 4 or 5 hours. In all that time, I entered every single one-entry sweep listed on this site that vaguely interested me! And now I have maybe 50 daily sweeps I enter every day, and I check the New Sweeps list all the time and enter any of those that interest me. If they are dailies, I add them to my daily list. But that's it...doesn't seem to take that long after the initial time investment. I'm wondering if I'm missing something! (The last few days I've gotten bored enough without new sweeps to enter that I've spun the stupid iWon.com prize machine 50 times in a row...having to look at bunches of ads to get the spins, and of course never winning a thing!)

I don't do a lot of snail mail sweeps. I have entered the Walgreen's $50K one, but will probably only send a couple of entries total, and I fill out any sweeps forms I see in stores, but don't feel like spending a lot of time with paper & stamps (even though I realize the odds are probably better with those since fewer people play!). And I've done a few call-in ones, but only if I happen to hear about them and want the prize. One thing I do like doing is entering contests that require essays or other creative answers, because I think my odds are probably better in those, but haven't seemed to have the brainpower to do many of those lately! I also only enter with one e-mail address for the most part...though I have gotten desperate enough with the Hellmann's instant win thing to try with multiple addresses, and I've pressured my husband to enter a few, too.

I spend 2-3 hours a day total--- that is too much time. Yes, my house is a mess too!!!! I am not entering sweeps under about $400 in value unless it is something I really want. You just have to draw the line someplace--- some of the prizes just aren't worth the entry time and odds that accompany them.

Right now, I'd say I sweep about 1 hour a day. I take about one day a week and do new ones (well I do the daily new ones everyday anyway), ones that are about to expire, etc and that day it will take me about three hours.

Whoops! I guess I should have searched before posting... Sorry to post again on something that was discussed so recently!

I've decided the reason I'm not spending as much time on it as other people is that I'm not entering as many of the sweeps. For instance, on the list of 15 pages worth of sweeps that expire tomorrow, there are whole pages where I only entered 1 or 2 of the ones on the page. I'm not entering any sweeps that are for long (1 week or more) vacations for 2 since I can't leave my kids that long, I'm not entering for a lot of the music-related ones (I mean, concerts by people I don't know/like, or guitars, autographed memorabilia, etc.), and not many of the NASCAR-related ones, either, which seems to be a lot of them! I'm also not doing the Coke Music stuff so many of you are talking about... I spent more time than I meant to on the Crayola CodeQuest stuff, & decided to mostly skip sweeps that involve a lot of playing games or other time-intensive things!

(Oh, but that doesn't mean I'm not spending a heck of a lot of time at the site & browsing the forums!! I am a bit addicted in that regard!)

P.S. And my house was already a wreck before I started sweeping! This is just the most recent excuse...!

I spend about 2-3 hours a day entering sweeps too. That seems to be the average. This is just spare time at work. Work always comes first, but it's nice to have a hobby to pass time when things aren't busy. (I have a state job, need I say more?) I feel this is a better way to pass spare time than running around to other officer gossiping or snacking my way into 300 lbs.

I spend betweem 2 and 4 hours/day...depending on what I am entering. Every day I enter the "New Sweeps" and the "Daily Sweeps"...then of course, once a month, enter the monthlies...and once /week, the weeklies...so in these cases, a lot longer. Once/month I spend an entire day almost...entering weeklies, monthlies, dailies and new sweeps...it's a day i devote to sweepind and my husband takes the kids out for the day. All are online sweeps. Hi and welcome!
I sometimes spend 3-4 hours a day, browsing and entering. I dont have DSL so I'm not as quick as the others, but I do enjoy my hobby. I have won about 5-7 little things. Its the "thrill of the hunt" that I really enjoy. I get a rush when I enter something I like and I can dream about it for days! I dont enter for stuff that doesnt interest me. Or cant afford-like a private movie screening for me and 50 friends(ARV $4000.00). Why would I want to pay taxes on that? I'll just pay $20 when the movie is released to everyone and have a better time.

Hi,
I usually spend about 2 hours entering sweeps, but usually hang about a little more and read the forums. I can enter all of my dailies in 45 minutes, if time is short. The best advice on winning I can give you is to increase your daily entries. I did this and have been having a lot of little wins. I did have one big win a weekend beach getaway. I have been sweeping since Nov of last year, but kicked up my dailies in june and have been having a lot more wins.

I don't enter sweeps that I have no interest in winning, unless I can get cash instead of the Grand prize. Occasionally if I really like the 1st prize, but not the grand prize I will still enter the sweeps.
