They just called "regarding a sweepstaked that I had entered" and told me it was very important that I call Mr. Mike Lowrey at 866-217-8201 about a Chevy Tahoe give-away and $2000 in prizes.
Sounded like I was in for a sales pitch so I just did a google search on the phone number and sure enough it's a timeshare - what a surprise!!
I hung up on them but I really hope they call again so I can try to find out which sweepstakes it was so we can blacklist it!

I, too, recieved a call from Mr Lowery, several months ago. I questioned where they might have gotten the list and was informed, by a floor supervisor, that they have no idea where the numbers were purchased from, but they purchase them from companies that do drop box sweeps as well as online sweeps.
Makes reading the privacy policies even more important... LOL
BTW, my entry was for a Jeep Liberty not a Tahoe...so they must have just purchased a fresh list!

What is this "google search on the phone number" ??I get lots of these recording to call such and such a number etc ... or phone rings and no one is there. The number does not show up on my caller ID. It just says 000000.

Snoop, just go to www.google.com or any other search engine and type in the phone number.

Rapunzel ... how interesting. I tried it. I put in my phone number but got no results. Seems like it will only give business phone numbers. Learn something everyday. Thank you

I, too, will get calls that I KNOW are from telemarketers where, when you answer the phone and say "Hello?" no one is there.
I think they do this to see if someone actually picks up the phone and is home, because most of the time within the next hour I get another phone call from a live human being. I think there should be a law against that!
I think there is a programmed telephone dialer that will see which numbers are picked up, and then send those numbers to their telemarketing employees to call us and drive us nuts! That way, if no one answers, they won't waste time by having someone call us.
