Do emails that are actual winnings come with attachments?
I have received several but I delete them because of the attachments.

Don't think so ( at least, from my experience ) . . .all correspondence RE my win/s came thru FedX or the mails. Any one else care to address this ?

I have won a few that had the affy as an attachment.
(They need space for all the "legalese".)

However, there is also text in the email from the sponsor that tells you that there is an attachment & how to respond... have it notarized, mail or email it back, etc.

This is why its good to have various people respond to a question. For a variety of reasons ( mainly viruses ) , be careful before opening any attachment.

When I won an Apple IPOD from Amazon.com, the notice came in a very unassuming e-mail that I was about to delete...it came with an attachment that was the tax claim forms and affy. So from now on I am very careful before I hit "delete"

I just won a $50 gift certificate from the Hershey's/ESPN instant win game and I knew right away that I had won, but they also sent an email with an attachment of the rules. That's the first time I had an attachment, usually it's just an email that says something like YOU WON! in the subject line.

I've always been told to watch out for attachments from anyone you don't know- Viruses, worms, bugs, Oh MY!
But, I just won $1000 and here's how it arrived:
I got the E-mail from an unknown name, with an attachment, the subject line said "$1000 be your own" I thought a pirate was spamming me- Arghh! But it turned out to be all good- if I'd deleted without finding out what the pirate wanted, I'd have missed the 48-hour window they gave me to respond. The attachment was their 'Winners Checklist', and it had to be sent back to them.
Best of luck!

I have had more than a few wins which had an attachment. The e-mail advises that I have won and need to return the attached forms. However, I probably would have deleted the e-mail that was posted above re the $1,000 since it would not advised me of the win prior to downloading the attachment. If I think the attachment may be revelent, I write the sender and tell them I need more info before downloading due to the serious virus problem

I usually just "open with" Notepad or some other text editor that won't execute macros.

My email program automatically deletes attachments, so I am able to open emails and see for myself what the attachment might be. Should I find an email that is actually a winner, I just hit reply and the attachment shows up.

I have had about three or so winning emails with an attachment (one being a cruise!)...

I would invest in a good antivirus program. Mine screens all email as it comes in. I am never afraid to open attachments if they look like wins. (Now those stupid jokes forwarded by a dozen different people--that's another story.)
I have something called Ultra Win Cleaner and it wasn't very expensive and has free online updates.
I received a win notice with an attachment of the affy I needed to get notarized. ;)

Or you could get a yahoo account that automatically scans incoming attachments for you and gives you an option to do it again, just in case.

All my Cartoon Network wins were notice by email with attachement. But at least the message headers were very clear...something like "congratulations! You've won at Cartoon Network."

A few others have had attachments as well, come to think of it. Winfreestuff.com is another one.

Unfortunately, we just have do *deal* with spam...and do so in a manner that doesn't toss out the few sweet babies in all that "dirty bathwater."

I get a LOT of e-mail everyday... since a LOT of the sweepstakes sell your e-mail to 3rd parties.... everyday I get YOU'VE WON or congratualations..... only to open them and find that you must join this or that to "win" a CD or a "free" trip to someplace IF your willing to sit 90 min and listen to a pitch about their time-share. My advise to all is to set up an e-mail for your contest and sweepstakes ONLY this way you don't have to weed through 200 e-mails daily to get to granny's letter.....
Good Luck to all....

Be careful in deleting attachments. Especially from a name brand company Sweep. I won the Thrifty.com Roadtrip weekly sweepstakes in November, and it came with an attachment, it was my affadavit, that I had to get notarized and send back. And I received $700, a panasonic camcorder, portable dvd player, luggage and other small prizes in that one sweepstakes.:smile3:
