HELP
I dont know what I did, but none of my settings are staying for Windows XP. Such as my screen saver, control panel appearance. I go to the proper screen pick what I want and hit apply, but when I shut down and restart I am back to the basic screens.

any ideas

1 more item I just got a pop up window saying my profile is corrupted and that that my system is using a temporary file for my settings. What does that mean. Did I get a Virus.
this is so frustratating

Yeah, something is definitely screwed up. I would just go under the control panel and create a new user account and start using it. Hopefully, that'll solve the problem. As always, update your virus definitions and run a full scan. And use sunscreen. It saves lives.

Great minds must think alike. My 14 year old daughter recommended the same thing. Man do I feel old. I did it and at least this part of my computer problems is corrected. Thanks

If you get time I have another post on some Robo problems under Tips and Tricks.

I was having major problems with XP a couple of weeks ago and actually got some help from Microsoft. I did the changing user name thing and still had problems. My ultimate fix was to reinstall XP and *knock on wood* things have been working fine.
