I am curious, besides this site, what sources does everyone use in finding sweepstakes?

I have been trying really hard to contribute new sweeps to the board, but have only found 3 that have not already been submitted. How do I search for sweeps? I want to contribute as much as others. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Ruth:grin2:

See http://www.online-sweepstakes.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24496

We will be launching this project soon and need as many volunteers as we can get as we currently have about 250 sites identified that need to be checked on a regular basis for new sweeps. Anyone who is interested in helping should either sign up through the above link or send me a PM and I will let you know as soon as we are ready to get underway.

Once in awhile, usually on a Sunday evening, I do a google search for something specific like "sweepstakes travel 2003". This brings up a lot of hits, but if you have time to randomly look at pages it sometimes pays off.

Hi amberlin96,

There have been a ton of post on this subject. this is what I want you to do as I am gonna give you a search feature lesson. I could post the link for you but I know you want to learn how to use the different features we have.:D

First click on the Search button found at the upper left hand corner of this page. See it? Great!!
Now when the search page comes up type in:finding new sweeps in the search by keyword area on the right side of the page. Leave everything else set just as you found it .

Now click on the Perform Search button at the bottom of the search page. This should give you enough answers to keep you reading for sometime

See how easy that was? What a great feature and so easy to use. Play with it. Try typing in different terms about sweeping that interest you,it is so cool to have so much information at your finger tips

Pm me if you have anymore questions

Amberlin and Littlebit- we might have two questions here...

1. How does one find sweepstakes within the forums here?

Littlebit's answer about using the Forums search feature is the answer. If you remember a sweepstakes about a Cadillac, but can't find it, try using that as search term. Spelling counts...if you misspell it, or if it was misspelled in the original post, that dog won't hunt. So be flexible and creative in your searching. Also, to start out, choose "All Forums" to conduct your search. It may NOT be in the Online Sweeps section, possibly in the Snail Mail or possibly even in the Contest Answers section. So start out as general as possible, and narrow the search if you get too many results.

2. How does one find new sweepstakes out there on the web?

Many different ways. Apparently snatching them from other similar contest posting sites is considered bad form...mainly cuz folks get tired of all the great content that is first posted here showing up elsewhere the next day. But...

a. you start developing an eye, and a "sixth sense" for it. For example, you're seeing a bunch of commercial, magazine ads, or billboards for a movie, new soft drink or consumer product. Do a search and find the website for that movie or product. Oftentimes, in addition to spending huge money on advertising...they are running a contest or sweepstakes as well.

b. over time, you become familiar with the websites that regularly and reliably launch new sweepstakes frequently. A couple that come to mind are lifetimetv, homemadesimple, kraftfoods, iVillage, Sony Pictures and hgtv. Visit the websites (and save links ) for ALL your local media outlets (newspapers, television stations, radio stations, etc.) Look for web addresses in magazine advertising or product packaging...and visit those websites. Save links to the sites that have often had sweepstakes, and simply surf on over every once and a while. Keep an eye out for banner ads or popups that are for sweepstakes, rather than just ignoring them or closing them instantly......note- this practice is understood by the advertisers and crummy spam type outfits also, so don't be easily seduced by "anything" that says..."WIN!!!"

Basically, don't sweat it...if you have a desire to contribute, and participate in this hobby for any length of time...you'll start finding new contests. Plus, you get a nickel for every new one you find! On the other hand, if you win a contest that *I* first posted...you owe me a dime! LOL
