Welcome to the group Julie! Glad you joined us!

As for auto entries... well, usually they are a big NO NO in sweeping! Too many of the sponsors have specific guidelines or rules stating that auto entries will be disqualified! Always read the rules carefully!!

This has been said before but it bears repeating for the newbie sweeper. The reason these sponsors hold a sweep is to drive traffic to their site, create consumer awareness of their product/service and to drive new sales by creating a new customer base for their company. Having said that, it would not be in the companies best interest to allow auto entries as no traffic has been created, no customers have viewed their product offering or gotten more familiar with their service because those entries can be made without your individual effort. There are sites out there that will charge you a fee to enter for you but those very entries that you are paying for most likely are getting flagged and disqualified by the sponsor as soon as they are received! The major sponsors know when auto entries are submitted because, well... a good example is ... no single house hold computer could possibly generate the number of entries coming from a single IP address as would be the case with those auto entry service. That's just one example of how they can track those entries. I am sure that there are more ways then that too! AS for the little guy sites that hold contests, they can tell because they suddeenly get flooded with entries from the same IP address and they must go through and "hand delete" those entries which is a nuisance and time consuming for them as well. When it becomes more trouble than it is worth to them , the little guys just close up shop and quit offering the sweeps at all. Not good for us as sweepers and not good for the site managers either.

All in all, auto entries are just not good sweeping!!

Now, there are ways to make your sweeping easier, faster and much more fun! Search the forums here for the term Roboform. You will find a wealth of knowledge on that free downloadable program that fills in forms for you. It is NOT an auto entry system, as you do have to visit the site yourself to actually enter, it just makes for less typing! A great little program used by many of the members here!

Secondly, search for SweeP! It is a free organizational program just for sweepers. Makes organizing your sweeps a snap!

Lastly, search for MySweeps. It is a great little addition to the main swebsite here, created and offered by our wonderful webmaster, Brent! It is a great online way to organize the sweeps that you enter and it is accessible from any computer because the info contained in it is saved on site for you!

When in doubt, search the forums here. Almost every question you might have starting out has probably been asked and answered several times. You will finds lots of jewels in the old posts here!

Enjoy the site and the sweeps! And good luck to you!!

Katie :)

Julie,

Roboform is really easy to use... but you have to play with the settings a bit to get it to where you want them to be.

First, get yourself an online mailbox. You can use it just for the sweeps you enter and it keeps your personal mailbox relatively spam free (if it still is spam free!). Then open robo and create your idenity. Add all the info that you want it to be able to automatically fill for you and NONE of it you don't (credit card info for example).

You can create a second idenity for your personal box if you want or for another person if that were your situation.

If you look in the options menu there will be many things that you can change to suit your needs ( number of blank spaces it should be able to fill before it will auto fill, automatically save login and password info - or have it prompt you to save it yourself... just a few examples).

One word of advice... learn this options panel well! When entering sweeps you can set the auto fill very low (to 1 from the default of 4) and it will fill out those dailies that only require resubmitting an email address with ease! When posting on the forum (or more over, responding) You might want to toggle it back up to a higher number as it will often "write over" any prefilled info if you have it set to autofill. You can start a PM to someone and withn seconds it could wipe out the topic and reciepient from your reply!

If you put in a "title" (Ms. Mr. Mrs., etc) and have it set to autofill, it will always add your selected "title" to every post that you make here! LOL If you see that happen, then remove the title field before you start to post! It will save you time in the long run to remove it and add it back when you are just entering sweeps!

Passcards are logins and passwords that you have saved for a specific site and are priceless! Use them often!

The neatest feature (I think, besides the obvious) is the save form option. After you have tweaked a form to be just the way you want it to be, right click your mouse and select save form from the menu. Name it to match the page or accept the default name it suggests, either is ok. Next time you go to that page to enter that sweep again, right click your mouse, select fill form and it will fill it in just as you saved it! Way cool and such a time saver!!

Well, there's a quick primer for using roboform. Experience is the best teacher really... so go play, enter and post and play with the options... you'll be a pro at it in no time!
