Fast-moving blazes force evacuations north of Scottsdale
June 23, 2005

Dozens of residents were evacuated Wednesday just north of Scottsdale as the Cave Creek Complex fire raged and threatened homes.

Wind gusts and high heat are expected to create challenging firefighting conditions today as the 12,000-plus-acre wildfires continue to scorch the desert.

"It’s really cooking," said Emily Garber, fire information officer for the Tonto National Forest.

AACK! That fire is just a few miles from our resort hotel! Would be a major bummer if the hotel burned down. :worry:

Hello All I live in phoenix az. It is very dry here hence the wild fires. We do get our yearly share of them. We have the BEST firefighters who have lots of experience with the wild fires.
They work long hard hours to put them out using helicopters with bambi buckets, backfires, and heavy earth movers. The cave creek fire is at this time 70% contained.

Last week we had around 8 wild fires. We currently we have about 4 left.

So don't be worried!

Come to Scottsdale and have a wonderful time!

Be sure to check the weather before you come. Here is a very good local website

If you want to know more about phoenix and scottsdale (we are connected) please email me.

Hey I might even show up at the convention to meet you all.

Brush fires and forest fires don't usually occur through major developed areas like Scottsdale. I'm sure the Fairmont keeps the grounds quite green. The only thing on fire in May will be your body if the heat hits early next year! ;-)

Feel free to email with any questions, I live 5 miles or so away from the resort.

Don't get nuts over this stuff. When I moved from Denver to Florida, it was a VERY bad year for fires down here. According to the media, everything in Florida was burning. When I got down here, there were a few fires but the whole state wans't on fire.
Just keep in mind that the media is to sell, not to tell the truth.
