This is how this one goes:
At the Air Force Academy Christian officials are pressuring cadets, many who are Christians, to follow fundamentalist Christian views. The Dems asked that these fundamentalist Christians stop this activity, and the GOP, many or which are Christians, jumped on that saying Democrats, many of which are Christians, were attacking Christians.
Have fun!! :gift:

A team from Yale Divinity School said it April it found evangelical Christian proselytizing commonplace and cited "stridently evangelical themes" by staff. The team described a campus chaplain telling cadets they would "burn in the fires of hell" if they were not born-again Christians.

Complete report http://www.au.org/pdf/050428AirForceReport.pdf
Incidents detailed in the report include:
Complaints that an Academy chaplain exhorted cadets to witness to non-Christians cadets and bring them to evangelical services.
Allegations that Academy instructors proselytized in classrooms; in one instance, an instructor ordered cadets to pray before taking a test.
Assertions that senior cadets harassed non-Christian junior cadets over their religious beliefs.
[Those who didn't attend chapel were punished by senior cadets]
Complaints that evangelical cadets are routinely given passes to attend religious meetings off campus but that cadets wishing to attend meetings of non-believers were denied the same right.
[No mandatory events training, parades and football are held on Sunday. They are routinely scheduled for Saturday and students who celebrate the Sabbath on Saturday are denied the same passes that are given to Christian students on Sunday.]
This report makes me sick to my stomach. There is a general who should be court-martialed.

As an evangelical who believes in spreading the gospel I am appalled by the manner in which this person acted. Those things, if they are indeed true, were out of line...

It's not one person, it's the entire command structure.

Regardless, it is wrong. You can't force anyone to believe in Christ.

This is simply yet another issue that the Academy is dealing with. It's getting worse and worse as opposed to getting better as issues are brought up. Since I live in the same town as the Academy, at a minimum of once a week there is a story on my local news about something else happening there. It needs to be fixed. If it means that every person in command and instructor there needs to be replaced, so be it.
Granted, I'm still looking forward to the Army/Air Force game this winter. Even though the Army will get it's butt kicked, yet again.

True, but you can sure make them feel like they're nothing and un-American if they don't. Glad that doesn't happen around these parts.

they just had on cnn an interview with a jewish cadet. he was asked by one of the other cadets: how do you feel about killing jesus?
the football team is known as team jesus.
intolerance of religions other than fundamentalist christians are not tolerated by the fundamentalist christians, which include teachers and students.
the lutheran chaplin resigned using words like despicable behaviour.

And that's the kind of cr*p that makes evangelicals look like cultists or idiots. :mad2: We're not all like that. I love the Jewish people. Jesus came as a Jew. The Jews did not kill Jesus. It was sin that did. The Roman soldiers are the ones who crucified Him but He chose the nails. That kind of sh*t makes me so mad!
