No matter how many times I run Ad-Aware, and delete 2 spyware files (Doubleclick and valuclick), they immediately reappear. This has been happening for months. I'm assuming that somehow they've anchored themselves to my system, but I don't know enough about the registry, etc. to do anything about it.
I was told to go to Doubleclick's website and "opt out" but what a joke that is. Same thing happens - it just reappears.
Can anyone tell me how I might get rid of these creeps permanently?
thanks!

Those are cookies that are deposited on your computer when you visit a site that uses those two ad servers. They serve "targeted" ads on lots of websites and unless you check your cookie file after each new page visited and stop visiting the sites that use those servers you will find those cookies are the proverbial bad penny. Empty your cookie file once an hour and keep sweeping!! At least it keeps them guessing where you went every 60 minutes! LOL

thanks, katie :)
All other spyware that's gotten on my system I've been able to delete permanently, and it's software that's mostly been bundled with downloaded programs. But these are just from web surfing...it's like some personal shopping assistant papparazzi (sp?) harrassing you to death while you walk down the street....LOL
You're right - if I delete cookies they disappear, for about 2 seconds. I guess that's because they're not cookies in the "standard" sense. They're spyware files.
Has anyone else been able to get rid of these files for forever?
;)
