Just got this from my husband and I haven't checked it on the hoax sites.
My bro-in-law just sent me a virus and I've spent the last 20 minutes cleaning it....
DO NOT open a .pif file that says "YOU"RE_FAT" it is a virus!!!!!!!!!!
The virus is called "W95.MTX.dr"
BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!

I'm sorry to hear that. Viruses are such a pain. The only good news about when I had one was how much I learned.

I'm getting approx. one daily in my Excite.com inbox, and one every couple days at Iwon.com. The clue is that they are big files (over 100kb) and from some name I don't recognize, usually with a slightly provocative header. When I was rushing a few times I'd click to open them, and they won't open (goes to an error page) so apparently the mailhost's server is running some kind of anti-virus action. But since the email won't open, I have no idea what sort of attachement it has.
More worried about getting one in Outlook Express where I have it set to show the content in the Preview screen.
Whatever, it is certainly an annoying "fact of life" on the web these days.
