I don't know if this has made national news or not but heres the story...

So I was on my way to Shreveport, LA on Tuesday and my Mom calls and tells me about a girl being murdered at some apartments nearby. My daughter and I were scared to death because we know a lot of her friends live there. So she calls one of them, hoping it wasn't her. And thank God it wasn't, but she let us know what happened since we were on the road and didn't have access to any news yet.

Anyway, this little 14 year old girl named Lan Bui was found by her 2 best friends about 9:20 Monday night in the courtyard of her apartment complex. She was tied up and stabbed in the throat and chest. This all happened like 50 feet from her own apartment! Its so sad. We did not know the girl but it still just hurts my heart so bad to know how scared she must have been and her poor parents.
They still don't have any suspects or leads other than a couple of strange things. One is that some kids say they saw her getting dropped off by a heavy-set man in a brown suburban after school. Then, when the 2 friends found her body they saw a shadow behind a tree of a heavy-set man but he disappeared before police got there. Its just seems weird because if it was the same guy why did he drop her off in the first place then come back? And if he did something to her earlier, why was she outside? So many unanswered questions. And don't weirdos like that usually take the victim off somewhere? I mean, to leave her right by her house? I have this really bad feeling like it is actually somebody she knew, maybe even someone around her age. I don't know why I feel that, just something tells me. Right now though, there are no leads and the cops and FBI are working on it around the clock. We don't get many murders in this city and especially young victims like Lan.
So if you all could just say a prayer for her family that they get through this tough time and pray the police find who did this. We are all scared in my neighborhood. She was killed less than 2 miles from my house and when I bought my house the little girl next door was getting off the bus and a guy tried to grab her but she was able to get away. They never did find him. I'm especially trying to tell my daughter (who was caught sneaking out only a few weeks ago) to be careful and to realize that it CAN happen to anyone.
And a good word for Shepp's Dairy...They put up a $10,000 reward to find her killer and the community is donating money for her funeral expenses.

It's sad to hear about this. I know about where that happened, I do work near there. I know there has to be some witnesses. Hopefully, some of the immigrants and residents that live there will be brave enough to come forward with some info. So sad. :worry:

I am sorry this happened. Right now your daughter might need extra support and she might be scared -- who wouldn't be? Just try to spend extra time with her, listen to what she says and of course, tighten up security with kids. Take them where they need to go and make sure there will be an adult around. Consider a cell phone for her so she has a way to call if there are problems. I hope they find the guy quickly. :hugs:

Oh she's had a cell phone for close to a year now. A lot of people look down on me for letting her have one but I think its great. She knows she can always reach me no matter where she's at and I know I can reach her. I tell her if I can't get you on your cell, I'll be coming to find you. She takes it to school but turns it on vibrate during class. That way I can still send her a text message or something if needed. Also, that way if something were to happen during school she wouldn't be fumbling to turn it on. She's only gotten in trouble for it once but I had a talk to her and the principal about it.
THanks for thinking of the little girl. She's been constantly on my mind.
