This will be my first convention, and I am quite excited. More so to meet up with my OLS pals and have a good time.

I have invited JackpotJoe, member of the Quad Cities Winners Sweepstakes Club and host of the 2005 convention, to come and chat with us and let us know what we can expect from this years convention!

I wish I could. Unfortunately, if I can afford to travel in June, it'll be to a betta show in Texas. I actually have fish to enter this year, so my other hobby will precede sweeping this year. However, I'm going to have to pay attention and see if I can go in 2006.

I'll be reading the threads in here with interest, that's for sure!

Hmmm...did some checking via Map Quest. 4hrs and 45 min from our house to Moline. I had completely forgotten about this! Nothing that I know of planned in June.

I need to share a room and a car to get around.
I truly doubt it because the car, hotel, convention and food will be almost a thousand dollars and there is no way I can win or get that kind of cash.

I am praying and trying hard to think of ways to get there.

Wow, what a great opportunity to meet everybody. I really would like to go, but it's not financially possible. However, now that I know about it, maybe it'll be possible to go another time. Hopefully, it'll be in California one of these years.

Last year they had Rambling with Ramsey which was funny witty and I learned a lot from him.

They had a woman from a radio station who gave some great info on radio station contests.

There was the lady who went on and on about compensations at casinos but I knew all about that.

That is why I want to go back.

I'm a little hesitant because I have a "thing" about eating catered/banquet food. But it does sound fun.

:supstar: I went to the San Diego convention 2004 and it was my first sweepstakes convention. The San Diego sweepers put on a great convention. What alot of fun it was.I'am not going to this years convention, but I'll be at the arizona convention in 2006 with my sister and my lucky girlfriend . Happy 2005 :supstar:

I'd love to but my DH's annual family reunion always falls the first 2 weeks of June...and since I actually LOVE them to pieces I simply can not miss it...but maybe one day I'll get there! 1. Thrusday evening (Welcome Reception)
2. Friday Morning
3. Friday Afternoon
4. Saturday Morning
5. Saturday Evening Banquet
6. Sunday Morning

I am not sure that my topic has been finalized by Joe.

For the past 6 years I have given talks, accompanied with live web action, on various topics related to How To Win Sweeps Via The Web.

Some talks have specialized finding and winning local sweeps via the web.

Others have concentrated on search techniques that people may not be aware of.

Others have been on how to organize and keep track of sweeps.

Most times I combine a number of different topics.

One year I gave two talks...one on winning via the web, and the other on how to get the best price for your unwanted prizes via ebay.

I've been to 2 conventions-arlington,texas..........my first convention and my Fave!!! Also had to take the convention CRUISE down to the BAHAMAS!!! someone had to do it :rolleyes:

Not sure about this years convention.....i'm waiting to hear whether or not I'll be getting a seat in the poker championship semi-finals....which will be around the time the convention will be :cool2:

BUT I would lOVE to gO!!!

I can't believe I didn't go to San Diego in '04, what was I thinking?? But, am registered and have a room for Quad Cities for my FIRST convention..monitoring Orbitz, Priceline, Travelocity, NWA, United, etc, for a reasonable fare to Moline..Hoping they might drop a tad in the next month or so....See you there and hope to meet many OLS'ers. My husband is going also and I haven't the heart to tell him there is no Harley dealership nearby....it was my only hope to keep him happy. :laugh:

I just reserved my room at Motel 6 for $200.95 and it is 3 blocks west of the convention. I mentioned to Chickee the free in room services like a pool, truck parking, and HBO. Then I mentioned the free coffee. She is thinking of getting a rental car. I need the estimates on taxis. I need to work with Delta and the vooucher I won because I cannot yet find a through to Moline from Los Angeles flight let alone one that is coach. So that brings my cost to about $350 plus another $200 for fun. Now if I could win big.

I want to go because of all the nice people I met. There was this one speaker who talked about sweepstaking and gave lots of pointers. He ws from San Diego. I hope this time they will also have a time when everyone wears something they had won.

I took the first step and if I have to I will sell my Gerber Lulabies, Kwiketts, and my cell phone to get there. Remember the people who crumpled their raffle tickets and the guy drew only flat ones.

If not a chickee then Palgraf will be a nice roomie.

I had done a search and didn't find a local dealership, so am just THRILLED to report back to DH that he will be able to check out bikes in the MidWest! Plus, he can say he got to do ONE thing he enjoys on the trip. :laugh: :laugh: I have to comment that everyone is so nice and helpful, I just have to lament out loud more often to get support! I believe that the closest Amtrack is in Galesburg Il I am not sure how far it is from here maybe 45 minutes or so.

I talked to Amtrak.
You have to get off at Galesburg.
You then you put your luggage in the bus luggage hold and board.
It is about 50 minute trip one way from Galesburg to Moline.

1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245).

It is located 7.3 miles and 13 minutes north of the convention.

I have 3 resgistered from MA and 3 from ME. I have also received an woman from NH who wants to come but only if she can carpool as she doesn't like flying.

Years ago, I brought one of my employees with me to a convention in Washington DC.

The hotels were overbooked so we had to 'share' a $275.00 a night room (which I footed the bill for).

I hate sharing a room because I am a very light sleeper.

I do turn a little more then most people in my sleep. But if its noisy I put ear plugs in. (I do a lot of camping) I wear ear plugs to keep out the bugs at night and the birds in morning. I guess I can do the same with people as long as they are not to loud.

2006 is in Phoenix, info on it will not be released until this years con is over.

Videos are available. The same guy films them ever year. I believe his name is Jeff Cosno (?) I know he moved not too long ago. Allright, I think I have successfully cleared my schedule and found a doggie sitter so it looks like I can come out for a couple of days. Not for the convention, just to meet those who are going.

Ok, now I know that no one is going to feel sorry for me on this, but I have a conflict, and need all sorts of good vibes coming this way. :)
I won that huge trip to the NBA Playoffs, well guess when they are?? June 7 - June 14. So you have to think really REALLY good thoughts that we won't end up being scheduled for a 3 day period of time that conflicts with this convention! It's sponsor's pick which game we go to. As long as there is at least ONE day free of the convention, though, I will be there. If I get off the plane and get right in the car for Moline, that's fine, too!
Just please please PLEASE don't let it be the 9th - 12th!

In my teen years I lived in a small town alongside I-70. It seemed the whole world was going somewhere except me!

Do I need to BRING anything (besides Sour Mix) to the convention? I know Saturday morning is "wear something you've won" day, but aside from that? 3 x 5 cards, a purple gorilla suite, anything?

My luck is improving.........I just scored a cancellation at the Holiday Inn Express!!! Cancelled my "down the road, just a ways" hotel room. Wow, what a wild time. First I lose my Thursday ride up there, then I get lucky & get a new one. Then I get a closer room too!!! Plus, I won a small instant win yesterday, so I am on a roll & what with the full moon to howl at, for GOOD luck tonight, I am planning on a large lucky streak to hit!!!! Can not wait for the convention. :cheer7:

Hey, since I am a high school "lunch lady" (cough, cough,.um...child nutritionist) I am not sure KB could corrupt me!!! I had a van full of lunch ladies, headin' back from some food show in St Charles, we came home on highway 94. You know the one with all the wineries??? I swear we did NOT stop at all of them! One was closed! And I am still not sure how that brewery slipped in. Just because I was driving... :halo:
