Hi guys,
I re-did MySweeps so that it should now work for all 4.0+ browsers (at the very least IE & Netscape 4+). In fact, if it won't work in your browser, you won't be able to see any mention of MySweeps on the web site (no "MySweeps" buttons, no links to MySweeps, ect.). Only 1-2% of visitors to Online-Sweepstakes.com don't have at least a 4.0 browser, so most of you should be fine.
The only problem I ran into while testing MySweeps occurred when I clicked on a favorite (or bookmark) to go to the MySweeps page. Internet Explorer 6 and Opera 6 would both display a cached MySweeps page. When that happens, any changes you made to your list (add a sweep, remove a sweep) are lost.
Say you have 3 sweeps saved in your MySweeps list and you go to the MySweeps page. Sometimes, a browser will save a copy of that page in your browser's cache. Now, let's say you go to the "What's New" page and add a bunch of sweeps to your list. You should have the first 3 sweeps you originally had saved, plus the bunch you just added, right? Well if your browser displays a cached (saved) MySweeps page when you return to MySweeps again, you will only have the 3 sweeps you originally saved to your list. The bunch you just added from "What's New" won't be there because your browser displayed the cached MySweeps page.
Every time a MySweeps page loads in your browser (cached and non-cached alike), the cookie that saves your list of sweeps gets re-written. When your browser displays the old, cached MySweeps page, only the sweeps you had saved when that page was originally cached (saved) by your browser will be stored in your cookie. Any additions or deletions you may have made will be lost.
Until I can come up with a fail-safe solution to prevent the cache problem, please don't use bookmarks or favorites to access the MySweeps page. Stick to the "MySweeps" links on the web site instead. BTW, I didn't experience this cache problem at all using Netscape 4.7.
I added a "Clear MySweeps" button to the MySweeps page(s). When you click the button, a confirmation box will pop up asking if you are sure you want to delete (or clear) your list. It won't delete your list unless you confirm that's want you want to do.
And I got rid of those annoying alert boxes that popped up every time you added or removed a sweep- enough said. :)
If you had problems with MySweeps before, try it out again and please let me know if you experience any quirks or problems.
Thanks all.
Brent
